Hi Guys, im after some advice from you seasoned riders on getting back to race shape having been off the bike for a long time. Bottom line, im eager to race again but I really dont have any base to speak of. For the power gurus I was holding a steady CTL of over 100 in Aug/September and my best power profile numbers ive ever had, im now around 30 (and climbing) but am aware of the effects of building too fast.
Is racing already going to be damaging to my season or am I better off writing off the next 6 weeks and keeping it all below zone 4/threshold. Its worth noting that I didnt get enough races in last year and so im still a 5 so perhaps just getting out there and seeing how things feel is worth while.
Goal wise, I just want to race again, locally, prospect and central.
My thoughts are get in as much riding during the week as I can, a diet of sweet spot sessions, regular 2x20s and lots of endurance/tempo but no v02 work or anything <5 minutes for at least a 3 more weeks or so with maybe a long easy ride on the weekend.
Interested in your thoughts and opinions.
Thanks in advance, look forward to riding with you guys again soon.
