POST-PAVE ALPINE PR's!

Saturday I did my best time ever on the newly-paved Alpine: 5.06

It occured to me afterwards, though, that psychologically I was still patterning my lines on the old pothole'd climb and not picking the fastest (shortest) lines through the turns; I think I could get my time sub-5 with some tweaking.

We've had a few mentions of new times with the recent TT, but I wanna see 'em all here!  Post your new smooth PR and we can see what's what.

I did 5:07 Solo ahead of Owens & Keith.  Averaged 395 watts.  Would love to go back with some of you flyweights to chase

Real hill climbers always like to end on the steepest part of the hill. Once you start with a false flat, the pretenders start making up ground.

Curious why the kissena route dosnt go until the end as that false flat and slight uphill sprint to the parking lot is a killer!

Went up there today to do 5 or 6 hill reps, the first obviously being my fastest, I looked at my average as I passed the sign and it was 388w for 5 minutes 05 but I was pacing to go until the ranger station not ending at the sign so ended with a sprint for 30 seconds.

For what its worth I ended at the ranger station with 392w average for 5 minutes 39. 

Likely excuse buddy...either brag about your Alpine climb using the board-approved starting and end points, or keep it to yourself. Because right now, there are a lot of nerds trying to reverse engineer your Strava post trying to figure out what your "actual" Alpine time was. And Jules has toddlers and small children to feed. Let him feed his children and toddlers. Jeesh, get with the program.

Alternatively, you can go race with JP up Alpine all the way into the traffic turn where the first rider not squished by a BMW X6 (the only remotely automotive task--squishing cyclists is an automotive task, right?-- this vehicle is good for) whipping around the Palisades blind sweeper wins.

Hey actually I forgot to give the heads up on yesterday.

Dont lean your bikes against the rail where it says "please use bike racks".

Obvious statement to just read the sign and follow it but I saw a hudson rider actually getting a ticket/court appearance because he leaned his bike and didnt use the bike rack. There was no one there, he wasnt in anyones way, cop came out of the ranger station and ticked him instantly.

Hudson guy tried to ask him why the sign said "please dont" and how it didnt say it was a federal offense and the cop just walked away saying dont argue with me or ill make it worse................

The funny thing about this is that there are two people on our club who I have noticed lean their bike against that very same fence. I've pointed it out to both of them, and neither were really aware that they were scoff-laws. Anyone want to guess who they are?

4.59 today - new PR for me.  It was either that or 5.01 but I'm not sure because the "no passing" sign was missing again and I judged it by where I remember the sign being.  Speaking of scofflaws...

I confess that I was one of the people Mark is referring to here. In my defense, I will note that my bicycle was parked in the rack for the duration of my visit to the sheriff's station. After exiting the building and getting back on my bike --a teammate gave me the remainings of their soda to finish-off. As we pulled away, I stopped, dismounted, leaned my bicycle against the rail, took three steps to toss the can in the bin atop the steps, and immediately remounted the bicycle.

It was then --exactly as I threw my leg over the bike-- that Officer Bertucco made an exclaimation about the offense and pronounced that I was the twin of the other Kissena who had apparently leaned his bike against the railing earlier that very same day. Although I did --technically- disobey the bike parking rule, I don't think that I encumbered anyone's access to the station and that no moral violation was put over onto the public or those trusty public servants the rangers themselves. Perhaps Officer Bertucco and others might be correct in condemning me for such a violation, but I humbly request forgiveness.
