Welcome @Joel!
Hey everyone, Im Jeff Apruzzese and i am new member to the club. Ive been an avid cyclist for the last 8 years. I started by riding track bikes and racing a bit of track while in college in Boston. About a year ago I started riding road bikes and fell in love with actually having gears! I was away most of this race season and was only able to get one race in at fbf field over the summer, but i hope to train hard this winter and be ready for the next track and road season. Im very excited to be part of the club so i can meet new people to ride, train, and race with. Thanks!

Welcome to both Joel and Jeff! See you out there real soon.
Welcome joel and Jeff! Jeff hung easily on our muffin ride. Its great to have some of next years new racers on board early.
Welcome @Jeff!
Welcome guys.

Hi guys - I'm Paige! I'm a new(ish) cyclist who decided to join Kissena for a challenge and to ride and train with other cyclists who are much faster and more experienced than myself. I've dabbled in cycling for a few years, but got serious about it this spring when I decided to sign up for Ragbrai with my family on a whim (my dad is an avid cyclist). I went from riding 0 miles/week to 150+ and completed the ride (400 miles over the course of a week across Iowa) in July. I fell in love with riding in the process so this seems like the perfect place for me to continue my journey into the cycling world. I met some of you at the new member ride this past Saturday and at the Women's only ride on Sunday, but I can't wait to meet and ride with all of you in the future. I hope to begin racing by next season, but I'll definitely need some guidance to get there so any training tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. I'm also fairly new to NYC (SoCal native right here) so I'll need lots of advice on good local routes AND cold weather cycling do's and don'ts. And a few things about me outside of cycling, just to mix it up - I work in the music industry for a concert promoter, I have an awesome dog named Betsy, and I'm into tattoos, reading, hiking and drinking beer - not necessarily in that order or all at the same time. See you guys out there!

Welcome Paige, it was awesome talking with you on Saturday. I'm more than happy to give NYC cold weather riding and beer drinking tips. See you out there soon.

Welcome to Kissena @Paige..
thanks!!
Welcome Paige!

(There is a section on winter riding in the "How to Ride & Race" handbook)
@Paige, welcome!  It was nice to hang and talk on Saturday, see you on the road.
Welcome Paige & Jeff.
Thanks everyone! And Jules - I'm reading through the handbook now, actually. Super helpful!
Welcome Paige, Jeff and Joel!

@Paige, it was great riding with you this weekend, and looking forward to many more rides soon! Keep your eye on the Kissena Ladies thread for some women's team training stuff. And yes, that handbook Jules put together is a gold mine :) See you on the road!

Hello my name is Renat Khalikov and I'm a new member. I was born in Russia and I've been living in Brooklyn for the past 12 years. I bought my first bicycle in spring of this year and been riding it ever since. I've mostly commuted to work this past summer but I enjoy taking long rides out on the 9W. I participated in the Kissena Fall Classic and I had lots of fun. I also rode on the new member ride and spoke to some of you there. What I really hope to get out of the club is to meet new people and join the community as well as ride in group rides and do many more races. Winning Cat 5 next season would be a highlight. I've been reading the forums and they have been great help. My only question would be about Team Kits. The next order date is in spring so I guess I wait it out till then but I hoped to pick up the team kit as I don't have any winter gear.
Thanks and hope to join you out on the road.
And sorry about my cheesy picture, that was from the Kissena Fall Classic
Welcome Renat!

Don't worry, we have an entire THREAD devoted to cheesy pictures of ourselves.  Don't sweat the kit; winter is murder on it anyway.
Welcome Renat, Paige and Jeff!!!
Welcome to the club @Renat!
Hi all,

Well it took me 3 days but I finally got my picture right side up!! My name is Mark Inaba and I am new to the club. I'm happy to be part of the Kissena squad and look forward to riding and racing with you all. Jules was very gracious to extend a warm welcome to me. I've been riding and racing for 5 years now and I am completely hooked on this sport. Actually I met Jules at one of my very first races, Tour of the Catskills, WRONG!!! I learned a lot about cramps, pain and suffering during that time. In the 5 years that I've been racing the cramps seemed to be not as bad, but the suffering and pain for some reason stays the same : )))
Anyway I'm psyched to be aboard!! See you out on the road...
Welcome @Mark!

(nice work on the photo :P)
Riding in the snow. Nice. Welcome aboard @Mark.
...by the way, @Mark is good buddies with ANGRY SANTA (pictured below) should you ever line up against that bearded man-best you'll understand.

Finnen! Oh no, I just got that guy hooked on Strava. Say goodbye to your KOM's...
Welcome, Mark (and all other new members!)

I am glad we have a new Mark. It puts us in a position to challenge the Jeffsss' ascendency. Technically if Marc B was in the Mark group we'd be on even footing.
^ actually, other new member mark taylor tips the balance in favor of the marks.

jeffsss: your time is over.
Begun, the JeffsssMarksss wars have...
Don't forget all of the sleeper Dave/Davidsss out there. WE SHALL RISE AGAIN!!!!!!!!

Seriously though, I'm coming back, I promise. Also, super rad to see all the new names on here. WELCOME EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dave who?
