My name is Shane and I just joined.

I'm originally from south east of Ireland and have been living here since 2005.
Bikes have been my main form of transport my entire life,so much so at 33yrs old I've never had a drivers license (got an expired permit though!!)
I got into road riding more seriously this year and would like to race next year.
I'm real close to prospect so looking forward to lots of laps with you guys.

Hi everyone,

Flo Jacob here. Joined the club recently and very much looking forward to getting laps and training in over the winter and then to do some Cat 5 in 2020. Relocated from Germany 2.5 years ago and what seemed like a short stint at first now seems like long term. Moved to Prospect Heights, was amazed by how many riders train in the park and that there is a race series. Always saw the Kissena  jerseys. And now stocked to be a part of it.

Hi all, new member Colin here, 

I have been living in Bedstuy/ riding throughout New York for the past 5 years, and have been racing the past 2. As much as I enjoy riding alone I am real excited to be part of the club and look forward to moving out of the 5s this year. 

I know I am a little late to the forums but would love to do a skills clinic if anyone is still interested.  

I have attached a photo of me in a thrilling cat 5 group from a L&C cup race last year. Pack finishes are my specialty.

Hi there folks. I realized today I never said hello on here, in part because I'd only ridden once with some of you before we all had to live on Zwift. Speaking of which, this is how I prep for Zwift races. Have to get into the zone, you know?



The basics for me are everything you can guess: I race road and cross, cat 4 in both. (I'm a giant ape so cross suits me better.) I ride MTB when I can, especially out on the west coast, as I hail from Chico, California, home of Paul Components and Sierra Nevada. Signed up for the club because I really do love racing and it seemed like the best place for me to find a home to get better. Maybe not faster or lighter, but better. Also quite looking forward to having more folks to ride with. Outside of bikes, I'm a journalist and live in the Fort Greene area. 

Excited to be part of such a storied club and really appreciate the kindness and welcoming vibes you all have shared. I've actually had to abscond to Chico to help care for an aging parent—I usually go back and forth a bit, but now I suppose I'm stuck—but enjoying logging miles and actually going up hills in anticipation of one day racing with y'all. In the meantime, I am sure all the rice farmers with big old pickup trucks are going to enjoy me zipping around in a Kissena skinsuit. I know I will!

Thank you, glad to be here. That's Gerald! The short story is that over the course of a fairly aggressive 48 hours in celebration of a best friend's wedding, I heard rumors of a coyote for sale at some antique shop in Worcester Massachussetts. Upon facing down one of the more punishing hangovers I've experienced, I convinced some folks to join me in the search for this alleged dog. Took a few very confusing stops but eventually we found him and the rest is history. I'd bring him out for a ride one day but he's really old and doesn't move very well...

Greetings, so I don’t think I ever did this intro 😅😅but.... Michael C here. Born, raised, and living in NYC, currently reside in Brooklyn near Coney Island. I have just one bike... shocking as it must be my Specialized Allez that I’ve loved for 7 years now and continue to modify and upgrade. It has been my everything bike and I love to push through all the miles. I race crits, technically I’m Cat 5 but that’s only due to my inconsistency in the past with riding and not getting the annual USAC license. I’ve raced at Floyd Bennett’s series, prospect park CRCA race, and a bunch of unsanctioned races. These have taken place over the last 3 years. Occasionally you’ll see me Duking it out in Alleycat races, which eventually I would love to do on a fixed gear bike 🚴🏻. I learned much about myself in 2020 and hope to continue that with the team in 2021. I prefer outdoors riding but I’ve warmed up to indoor training ever since I got back into my rollers when the weather is either a bit too chilly or in today’s case, dumping snow and wind. Hope to see all of you out on the road eventually, and if you ever hear “Kissena!!” Its more than likely me saying hi.

Hey Everyone, new member John Anner here. Relocated back to New York two years ago, after 35 years in California. Looking to get back into group rides (post COVID) and racing, maybe, although I'm kinda old and fat and out of shape these days. . . I've lugged my bike all over the world, done significant hours in Vietnam, Hawaii, Mexico, Bali and of course California. Pic is me in northern New Mexico on my Parlee. I rode with some very fast guys in Hanoi for two years, and with the Berkeley Bicycle Club for about ten years. Did some road racing and crits, and hundreds of fast group rides. I live in Brooklyn/Clinton Hill now.
