Bike Touring

That's incredible! Your travels look wonderful. But I'm a little confused about the GWB preference... Maybe your blood sugar is low?

Keep the updates coming,
-j.
Well architecturally I definitely like the GWB better, as far as riding, not as many tourists on the GWB and it's much "quieter". On the golden gate for some reason you can barely hear anything its so loud
Yeah, I was kidding. I can easily see how the gold gate is similar to the Brooklyn bridge in it's jam packed tourist-ness. I've only walked the GG. And as many hundred of times I've gone over the GWB, I still stop occasionally to look south. It's a great view.

Keep rocking out!

Woj, you're an inspiration!
Keep on truckin'
Hey guys!

I made it up (and over) to Portland, OR.

Since I left SF things went downhill pretty fast. Hwy 101 is a piece of shit highway with no shoulder and loose gravel everywhere. Almost got taken out by 18 wheelers coming wayy to close. I was complaining to the lady at the visitor center who told me that since 101/1 are considered nat scenic roads they can't be changed/ altered, and they have to remain the same width as back in the 50's. In that case I think they should ban semi's from them as there wasn't so much traffic back in the 50's.

I can't imagine riding on 101 in the summer. I'd rather bike tour up and down Flatbush.

The Oregon coast- lovely. 101 doesn't hug the coast as much as socal's 1 does though.

Weather- rain. All day, everyday, mixed in with hail and snow. My feet froze to the point of becoming blue in spots today after crossing the coastal range. Camping in it is quite impossible as all the fields are flooded and it's not fun at all.

I'm wet, cold, miserable & my weight is fluctuating way to much. Tomorrow I'm hitting up REI and getting the best waterproof clothing money can buy

Currently its snowing in Portland. Aint that lovely.

I hope you enjoyed my complaining.

ETA- May 5th/ 12th GWB.

Easily one of the most illustrative things you've written. Yikes, bro. Get that rain gear. And keep on, keeping on. You're a stud.
Hang in there Woj! Just a few days out of a multi-month awesome adventure. It sounds like you've got your own "Catalonia" going out there.
Dude, Woj, there are so many great places to eat in Portland. Hunker down and fatten up. I know you'll loose it all in the upcoming stretches of mountains.

This place is insanely wonderful:

Oh, and check out that book store. Powell's I think.
I think Norm is in Portland right now? You two should meet up
Even when he's here with us, Norm is in Portland.

Woj, didn't realize you would be headed up that way. My family is there so let me know if you need some connections and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks guys

Going to have dinner with Norm tonight! Should be fun

I'm actually headed out tomorrow but thanks Jim.

My plan is to take the rive gorge to Hwy 12, that across Idaho. Come south either 90 or 1 to west yellowstone. Go through yellowstone ( it will be closed to cars but open to bicycles!) then head to the badlands in SD. After that Chicago, onto Ohio & PA.

If anyone has any family/ friends along those parts I'd appreciate the help
Going through Yellowstone and SD's Badlands...is bad-ass. I've been to both, absolutely gorgeous.

Having dinner with Norm though? He'll probably make you go out and stone some possums to death, then cook them over a...scratch that...I think Possom carpaccio is probably on the menu. Good luck ;-)
Having dinner with Norm ?!?

I thought Norm was feeding off the energy from planet Power and the ocasional scream of despair from his opponents in the future

I didn't realize he actually *ate*
Wojciech,
If you're going through Bozeman, I should be able hook you up with at least a backyard if not some indoor space. Let me know.
Alrighty y'all, this is it! The final 500 miles from Pittsburgh to NYC.

I should be arriving Sunday, May 6th, so make sure you dedicate that day fully to me.

Just kidding, but if a bunch of you guys want to come out to the GWB that afternoon to ride down the west side bike path with me that would be rad. If there is a race/ what not don't worry about it!

I'll most likely camp along the Delaware on Friday, make it to 9w by Saturday and camp somewhere along it that night, and then ride down 9w to the GWB Sunday morning. Should be there around 11ish but can adjust that if you guys are doing a group ride and will be back later/ what not.

Looking forward to some doing some racing finally!

The Victor returns!!!

So Josh just informed me the NYC bike tour is Sunday...

To be honest I will be stressed out enough with the sudden increases of people around me I'm not sure I want to deal with thousands of bikers as well on the west side/ si ferry...

Would Saturday work for you guys? I think I can make Saturday pretty easily

Oh, and someone in the group that comes out has to be blasting eye of the tiger as I approach the GWB.
Okay! Scratch Sunday, sorry about that.

Saturday, May 5th is the date (:

Around 11-1ish depending on what works for you guys
I'll be there! Looking forward...
The endless summer comes to an end.....what an adventure! U should write down everything u remember from your trip...and put together a small book. Incredible....yacks
Awesome guys!

Fantastic Woj!
Sorry I won't be there for the victory reunion (wedding in Midwest)
J
great job getting more good press, young man!
dammit!

I'll be in San Francisco.
I'll be in Minnesota.

Woj, how about you do a quick loop to Chicago and back, take an extra three days?

Very sorry to miss this historic event!
We need a specific time and place to meet Wojciech. Does noon at Strictly Bicycles make sense? It is a little more civilized than the sidewalk at the end of the GWB.
Wojciech told me that he has some flexibility on timing and wants to give people racing Prospect time to get up there... I'm guessing 11am would be fine for that? The idea of meeting at Strictly Bicycles sounds good to me.
