Hopefully later in the summer I can finally ride without leaving a lung behind..  I would like to see if I can join at some point on some of the excursions since I'm not taking any real vacation this year.

Tomorrow, I'm taking the boys to see the start of stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse. Tafers is one town over, a short distance from home. The initial loop the race does is on roads that I often ride. Anyway, look for us in the coverage. I'll try to get the gang to all wear our Kissena hats.

Watching today's (a day after the photos above) Tour de Suisse stage, it was hardcore. Felix Gall is a new name for me, he absolutely destroyed the stage and pushed every GC rider to their limit!

I'm going to Europe for a family vacation in early August and am itching to head to some iconic locales for some riding before or after the family part of the action (i.e. either at the end of July or around the 16th of August).

Would love to head back tot he French Alps like I did with Jeff and Anthony pre-covid, but would be open to other iconic locales like Flanders (yes, I was there earlier this year in the rain), the Dolomites or Swiss Alps.

I'm considering putting in at work for a conference in Nashville Oct 1-3. If I get the approval, should I bring my bike like I did with San Diego in 2022? Anyone have experience with the riding in Nashville? The conference is downtown. Will I get run over by cycling hating people? Thoughts?

Yes, I think you should go.  The riding can be excellent around there.  I think I know some people who can help out.  But, when I went that way, I stayed in nearby Franklin, and just reached out to the local clubs and ended up riding with one of them.

I’ve been in County Down ,Ireland for a few days for a Irish /Sudanese wedding , which lasted 3 days , thanks to a friend I was able to borrow a Trek Emondia from a cool store in Belfast , 
I managed to get in a few rides around the windy down coast and the mountains of Mourne ,
the roads are super quiet and narrow with the most angry road surface , they use a really coarse chip and seal instead of asphalt 
and the bike had 25mm tires with inner tubes and very rattley shifters which I assume are a result of years riding on these surfaces .
that said , some spectacular scenery

Haven't been here in a few years.  On Friday, our evening flight was cancelled because of thunderstorm threats and it wasn't certain we'd be able to make it at all.
 
the last several times I've been in Memphis in the summer, I've hit up a noontime ride east of the city that always seemed to have guys peaking for a state championship ("one last hard ride before I start my taper") and I'd go out in 90+ Fahrenheit heat.

This year, I figured I was ready.  Good heat adaptation and an easy week.  But that ride has bitten the dust.

I ended up on the Saints and Sinners ride.  They talk about it being an urban ride, but we went north and east instead.  And it was only mid-80s. 

It felt easy.  But I did end up drinking two bottles in 30 miles.  Lucklily, we stopped for a refill shortly after I finished my last bottle.

Landed in New Zealand today, and will be here for the next six months... maybe more. Brought my gravel bike - appropriately named the "Hakka" Can't wait to report on the riding here.

In the meantime, enjoy the view from 41k feet. Yes those storms in the distance were high, tops over 50k just off Tonga...
