Tried to find a through route I thought I could see on Strava, but it ended up as an out and back when I hit a highway with no shoulder. Scenery was absolutely gorgeous though. Felt like riding through the Shire.

There was a little baby triathlon down the road from us today - took the kids and gave it a whack. I haven't run since before my oldest was born, and I'm happy nothing broke. I'd forgotten the excitement of riding to a race start in the morning with a string bag on my back - that was better than any of it.

Rode my gravel bike.

The only downsides were the beach photos (who let the pasty white old guy in???) and how slow my run was.

If only the world were black and white. What suffering would we remember when there is family behind you and open road ahead. The only real weight a CO2 cannister and extra tubes in your jersey pocket, where a simple sip from your bottle refreshes completely and the desire for burning pain in the quads translates into speed on the road, the hum of a well-oiled chain, machinery where you are the engine, and wind that whispers its companionship.

How on earth to explain this to people who don't ride.

How to explain sublime. You might as well try to explain faith to the apostates.

You may have traveled, but you are definitely not in foreign lands. We all ride together, even when our tires roll along tarmac solo.

Last ride of the week for me today; beautiful scenery with one exception; I've seen my share of road furniture and livestock while riding; turtles, raccoons, deer, bears, even a pair of swans walking together on the road in Prospect park. Cows, sheep, bald eagles, etc. Not to mention dogs, cats and insane rollerbladers.

Today I rode by the very fresh carcass of a baby seal :'(

Found a gravel road climb here so long it took me over 25 minutes to get back down it. Really sucks that the strava segments here are overrun with ebike performances.

V belated but adding for completeness: me running into the guys!!!! Seeing @m@"Mark Taylor" ’s always smiling face when I walked into the cafe was a pleasant surprise.

my hubby and I did some shorter rides together, which we thoroughly enjoyed!
