Well I'll be damend.  The "nicest guy" ever that I ran into while riding in the rain today was none other than Mike Garrigan, former Canadian National CX Champion.

I'd have never known it.  I showed him the secret CX route out of National allegiance (hey, he's from Toronto) and only after I looked him up did I realize what was up.

This town is awesome.

Jules - was Mike decked out in LaPierre kit on a cross bike?
He was in his Ontario kit of some kind on a white & black cross bike with road wheels.
anyone wanna kick it in the park this evening for a quick 6-7 laps?
looking to sneak in a quick ride this pm; maybe 5-6 or a little earlier
wet?
not gonna happen today - family stuff
Not sure which thread to throw this on to but today in the park the DOT had a guy taking pictures from the pulpit in this cherrypicker at the bottom of this hill... as I did my laps they moved around the park taking pics from the turn at the bottom of the hill, by the stoplight before the finish and partway up the hill... monitoring traffic flow? violations? I've seen radar guns many times in the last year, as recently as a month ago but this was a new one on me
^ what time was that?  I went around midday and didn't see anything

I was there 2-3pm
Apparently I didn't notice then :P
perhaps it was the out-of-body-inducing 1 minute intervals I was feebly trying for

Probably belongs in the training thread, but when max HR is 20 bpm lower than usual that means a cold, or otherwise run-down, doesn't it?
Or that you shouldn't be doing 1 min intervals at this time of year.
Take time to smell the flowers (or rotting leaves).
After lying on my back in my living room for some time, and when the spots stopped dancing I thought the exact same thing.

Then I ate everything that wasn't bolted down including one of my kids stuffed animals.  Tasted snuggly.

I should be arriving at GAP around 7:30 tonight for an hour of tempo moderato. -Norm
Hey, guys. I'm in town and will be doing an easy hour and a half park spin starting around 9:00-9:30. I'll be here next week, too, for some park spins, and maybe one day upstate.
Hey Nathaniel... welcome back to the homeland. I will be riding in the park saturday and sunday... I can ride in the mornings or afternoons. -Norm
Thanks! Maybe Sunday. I'll let you know if that works out. If not, than maybe during the week. I'm leaving on the 3rd.
sounds good... 917-578-0381
so who's riding tomorrow?
i'm planning to

Is anyone doing any weeknight riding in the park? I'd like to start riding on Wednesday and Thursday evenings around 5:30. Also any rec's for good lights?
I'll be riding in the park at 915 tomorrow. I'll be rocking my jersey for the first time. Hollah
Heading out to Prospect 1:30-2pm ish for an hour or so
Will be in the park for a leisurely jaunt at about 3pm today.
Anybody planning on any early morning rides in prospect this week
Hi Mark,

I may head out Thursday & Friday morning for a spin...probably around 9:30 or so...not sure if that's early enough for you.  This is weather depending, though (cold won't keep me in, but any precipitation will).....

(Also, full disclosure that I'm pretty much limited to moderate tempo these days)

umm, if it isn't too cold after work i'm going to do some laps of Prospect Park. Shooting for daylight hours, 3:45 maybe?? Anyone want to join?
just missed you, mr. perlberg.  i was out from 1-2:30 today....chilly but sunny.
Call me crazy . . . but I like to head to the park from 9-11pm.  Kids are sleeping.  Fleece lined leather work gloves (from a hardware store) and proper winter shoes with wool felt insoles make ALL the difference in motivating you out the door regardless of temperature.

The best lights are hand's down the Knog Blinders - USB rechargable.  Pricey at first but well worth it. I use them every day, to and from work on my beater fixie and also on my 'real' bike.

I will do my best to let people know here in advance of whenever I head out.
The longish night rides keep the winter weekend free for family . . . and skiing if that's part of your winter workout.

enjoy
