@Peter-I tend to be out those hours as well when I can get out.  Give shout if you know you;re heading out in the evening and I'll do the same.
I'm also a PP night rider. See you out there.
Gonna be in PP for a couple hours around 3:30 for a bit of tempo. Holla.

Happy New Year guys! It's been a while since I've seen you guys. Been in my little chronic injury/recovery cave for some months. The ass isn't 100% (probably won't be til I go for a bit of surgery, but it isn't bad enough to warrant that, not yet anyhow). I've put together enough fitness to ride with you guys, so I'll be out in the park from about 7am til 8:30am tomorrow morning, and I'll join for a group ride this weekend. Hope to see some of you out there.

Norm is back!  All hail the Norm!

correction: Moron of the Rings

When I was in college, I hoisted up a home-made set of gymnastic rings out at my dad's farm in SC. The first time I used them, I was surprised that I could perform a number of gymnast moves, especially moving into "T" position real nice and slow and controlled. I had so much fun with it. After an hour on the rings, I walked back to the house and felt my elbows start to burn... like I'd been bitten by twin Komodo dragons, one on each elbow.

I've never been able to throw a ball with any force since then without my arms hurting.

Oops, Sorry Jules! I deleted your pic :B

Ha!
Awesome! I am preparing the battle steed Skeletor; ready to chop heads in the park this morning!
footnote, er, headnote -- I took the picture too seriously, realizing only as I rolled down the back hill that I was helmet-less. I retreated back home to don the helmet and resume my training quest.

Hi Guys,

I will be leading a regular 6PM (Grand Army Plaza meet up) tempo ride in Prospect Park on Tuesday nights, weather permitting.

Tonight looks like a great night to get started with some nice weather rolling through.

We'll start out with a few shorter efforts (2x20 mins) and focus on keeping them super steady right in the tempo zone.

The nice thing about tempo is that it pretty doable with a group. If you're a bit stronger, you take the wind. If you're a bit weaker, you sit on wheels.

If the group gets big, we can split into a few smaller group to keep it honest and safe.

Let me know if I should expect you tonight, or possible in the future.
If you've got the time, I'd strongly suggest that you do this instead of any other workout right now. Tempo will get you fit. Now what is tempo was covered at length somewhere else...
I'll be doing mine on a trainer, but that's my own cross to bear.

I'm shooting for 80% of FTP, for those training with power.

This means I'll be rolling at around 250 watts. For those training with HR this would be about 88% of your LTHR I think, but I'm a little foggy on HR zones right now.
I'd be in for this. What time?
Mike I seriously doubt 250 is 80% for you but maybe that's because of, I don't know all the Pro123's you RODE OFF YOUR WHEEL last season. Just sayin'

:p
320-64=256... Close
Sorry I can't join tonight, but I will ride tempo with you guys on the 15th and 22nd, and possibly, the 29th.
I'd be in for this. What time?
6PM, GAP

Thanks for the vote of confidence. This may be a bit conservative, I'm basing it off a 314 FTP which is actually pretty accurate for right now and is pretty much where I was last January as well. I hope that number to be closer to 330 by May and June.

But I think this brings up a good training question. For early season stuff, I'm happy to base my tempo zone off where I am right now, not of where I plan to be in May and June. This is party burnout prevention and partly to keep the workout actually tempo instead of letting them creep up to threshold.

I'll be in the park later, but won't be able to make 6pm (will be closer to 7).  Will latch on if I see you.
I will head out for the late shift at about 9 PM this evening for some slempo riding.  In case I'm not wearing any Kissena-wear (TM), you can recognize me by the samba line of animals that follow me around the Park at night.  Stearns?  Thierry? Mark Taylor?
I think I may join you but no guarantee since that I've been up since 5:30.
@Thierry Looks like Stearns may be out as well. Neither will probably be out til 9:15. Feel free to text or call if you are trying to find us. 917-579-6580.

Jeff White and I had a nice ride.

Large police presence. Almost every intersection had a patrol car with flashing lights. Whitey got the nerve up to ask them what was going on. Apparently iPhone snatchers are at it again. Be careful.

@neil
I won't make it tonight. I am too exhausted. Send my regards to Dave. See you tomorrow at RB
@Thierry understood. Will do.
sorry we missed you thierry!  slow tempo hour was fun, made all the more exciting by the, oh, 50 cop cars with rollers flashing that kept salmoning the wrong way along the road.  anything to keep 10 pm park joggers attached to their iPods, i guess....

meanwhile across town i imagine some kind of urban apocalypse unfolding since, you know ALL THE COPS ARE DRIVING AROUND IN AN EMPTY PARK.

I'll be out there tonight around 7.
yeah why are there so many cops there lately?  there's one at each entrance and several just doing laps.
