I'm a fan, and if I can get the days off, I'll be back.

The more i ponder the idea of these 2 races, the more I like them as goal races.

If we can recruit some riders to either or both, I'd be down to race.

They both will probably have Cat 3 fields, which would be great for our growing squad of 3s.

June 23-24: Giro del Cielo: Last year started with a 15 minutes uphill time trial, followed by a crit, with a sunday road race.

June 28-July 1: confirmed stage race @ Fitchburg. Sounds fun to me.

You can get me for cielo, and if I can figure it out, squeeze fitchburg in before Europe!

PS - Giro has a cat 4/5 field and some masters fields, fitchburg had everything except 5s.

Ha - yeah, believe you're right. I was jonesing for a race that weekend, and joined Jeff and Greg for the 4/5 road stage. First time I had ever raced with 4's. It was awesome to see Greg sew up the win - he was getting lots of good-natured shit afterwards from people for not having upgraded to the 3's yet (after winning Battenkill solo earlier in the season).

Spring Series is on Sundays. Should be perfect mostly in the parks with very little hill climbing.

The race itself isn't necessarily poorly organized, you will be able to show up pay money and start a race like all others. It's pretty much the results, pack spacing in prospect park, and 2 races compete for one jersey that give it a bad rep. But I would focus on racing over the other factors if no other races fit your criteria.

There's also the Floyd Tuesday night series in the summer, and I think they do some on Sunday mornings as well.

I know some folks do it from time to time. It is longer than typical park races.

About an hour from my parents house, So i'll probably sleep there the night before if I end up doing it. Room for others if you want to join.

I did that race as a cat5 a couple years ago. Mostly flat except one small rise, some sketchy pavement on the back stretch including a really rickety bridge, and stiff winds on a large square circuit course. Double-yellow-line rule in effect. Ended in a bunch sprint, and I was on the wrong wheel on the wrong side of the pack. Unless the wind is high, it'll be hard to get away.

The double-yellow-line rule is waived for the last 500 meters of the race, so make sure you are on the LEFT side of the pack. That way you're guaranteed room to sprint.

Sheeeeeeet. Fitchburg looks extra awesome this year. Change in format. No separate Cat 2 field (we have to race with the big boys like we did in the old days, when I lined up against the likes of Chris Horner). Twilight Crit. 9-mile hill climb TT up Mt Wachusett. RR starting in Worcester. Traditional last day crit. Super awesome. Missing the circuit race though...that was especially killer. Work and impending baby boy arrival may make this one impossible for me to make this year. Bumming.
