A crash took down some of our guys in the 4/5 race, everyone is ok. Mattie took 4th via conrad / andy leadout.

Pulled down 4th. Full field of 75. As a team we did a good job dictating pace, had guys in every move, and controlled the front, to the annoyance of many people. Some sketchy dudes, and a crash halfway through split the field. We had 2 up the road when Anthony, the dangerous, jumped across and through the break. No one made a move, so I bridged across and through on to his wheel. We worked for a lap or so together before he attacked me out of the turn and gapped me. Dude is strongggg. I came back in, after dying a million deaths, and so did he eventually. I told him if he towed me around I wouldn't sprint him, and the team would preserve the gap. He didn't buy into it. 2 to go, and I'm on Andy's wheel. Anthony jumped again and Konrad covered. It started to get slow and tight and I believe it was Jeff who really took over pace making, and helped keep it fast enough to be safe. Andy kept me safe, sitting around 6th wheel. A little argy bargy, but nothing a trackie like him couldn't handle. He dropped me off a little early, right when the pavement changed, 500m or so out. But go time is go time, so I lead it out long. 3 guys came around me when I started to fall off, but I was able to kick again and hold off the rest. Power numbers later when I get home.

sorry to see ashley and joel go down in the crash in the middle of the race. Sounds like there was some real bad decisions made by guys who couldn't see straight.

My break was good, but when you have 5 out of 8 guys working, it is not a formula for success. Spent too much time on the front trying to make the race happen there...should have left something for the counterattack and gotten a smaller group away.

My 2nd race 35+ was fast but smooth. I ended up dropping out after my bridge to Greg and Mitch, I had no more in the tank to make a hard effort, so my race was done.

Great team race in the 3 race with me Perlberg Rene Dan Hubbard Wojeich.
We never felt out of control. Took our shots with breaks and bridges to them. We countered at the right time blocked and raced really well.

I wanted to win and tried not to do too much and save it for the win. Last lap last stretch, I moved up as. The field expanded and then expanded. Saw a Kissena in my wheel and let loose. 45 sec or so of blowing by people and to see Rene keep going from 200m. Fist in air awesome.

Well looking at my data my cash occurred 17 minutes 30 seconds into the race at 43kph having managed to just about slow down from 54kph.

Break was away which we were represented in, I was 3 wheels back on the front pack. Rider 2 stands up to accelerate to break away from rider 1, head down, in doing so vieres off to the left and takes out rider 1 instantly straight in the center/side of him. They tangled a little before going down, hit the deck went left bounced right, I was hard on the breaks as soon as he hit and thought for a moment id miss them or be able to hop his bike but as they bounced right my rear wheel was a good 4 feet in the air as I rolled over his bike in the split second it all happened in. Did a little superman impression for what felt like sometime before hitting the deck hard and then had a handful of people come over me. 10 people came down in the crash, some got back on but about 4 or 5 of us stayed down. Took me a while to actually sit up but im fine just a little winded. Took a nock to the head, road rash hip, arm, elbow, knee, shoulder, back and a quarter wheel shape bruise now forming on my lower back up to my shoulder. Ambulance crew cleaned me out and strapped me up. Bikes mostly ok, luckily I didnt ride the Venge today! Saddle ripped off the seatpost, rear wheel needs some work but other than that the rest is cosmetic. My first crash, could have been worse. Thanks to Jim for pulling out on the return lap, sorry I wrecked your race.

Disappointed I road defensively at the start. The race until I went down was averaging under my ftp including normalized so I felt good at the time and was waiting to counter attack should/when the move Dan was in be taken in, next time......Well done mattie for picking up 4th, sorry I couldnt be of any use.

Was awesome to watch the 3's race. You guys killed it. Perlberg solo for a few laps, expert ragot leadout then Rene finishing it off for the win.

In other news it was awesome riding with you guys in the 4s. Much more agressive, no shyness of attacking and a solid team representation!

Upon closer inspection my Specialized Prevail helmet which ive worn about 10 times has a crack running right the way through it directly at the back of the head, theres also 2 deep gauges that look like they came from chainrings..........

45+ race didn't go so well. Was at the front for the first lap but then relaxed on the backstretch of the second lap. Upon moving up again at tbe end of the second lap, I was amazed to.discover a break of 8-10.guys up the road. Unfortunately, thT was the race. I had breif delusions with a small gap on the field with 4 or 5 to go, which served to launch Sniadowsky for a longer solo foray. But the race was otherwise uneventful. General sketchyness, the large break, and a crash on the last lap reportedly caused by a large snapping turtle crossi.g the road (Voj has a picture) convinced me to lay off the field sprint. However, it turned out that two guys in the break crasbed out on the left turn into the finishing 'straight'. So there was still money available for the field. Sort of sorry I didn't stay for the3's. Ed Nolan was also ther
, and I think he may have met the turtle.

Lined up for the 4/5 race with the crew. The first few laps were fast and sketchy but there was at least 4-5 Kissenas on the front at all times, either in a break, countering one, or setting a nice tempo. About 3 laps in Dan got off the front in an 8 man break that looked somewhat promising but they dangled at about 10-15 seconds for about a lap and a half until Liberty, the other team with large representation in the race and who didn't have anyone in the move, decided to put 4 guys on the front and pull it back. As their train went by on the way to the front a called out to the last guy in line that they should try launching someone to the break and contributing rather than just riding for a sprint with more than half the race to go. He acted incensed and they went to work. They went through their guys in rotation and brought us back to within 50 meters or so then faded away. Then crunch, bodies bouncing all over. I didn't see who went down until the next time around when I saw Ashely sitting in the grass holding his hip. The next time we came around his bike was still in the grass and he was in the ambulance. Picturing him teammateless with a broken something or other, I stuck my hand up and pulled off to help. Frankly I was a bit relieved to get out of that sketchy race but was glad to see Ashley basically OK but for alot of road rash and bumps. Congrats to Mattie for getting 4th after a super long sprint. I'd like to schedule use of the 8mm allen key a week from next Tuesday.

I was a bit nervous about the 35+ race with John Durso, Greg Olsen, and other names lined up that I only know from watching the upper categories. If I don't say so myself, I think Dan and I represented Kissena quite well for the entire race. We stayed near the front, getting into moves, and riding aggressively. I was having a blast. The race was fast and aggressive but felt safe and controlled. With 3 to go I was feeling the efforts and found myself at the front of the pack (2 Colavita guys had gone away earlier) putting in a big effort. When I pulled off I felt pretty spent and drifted about 1/2 way back to catch a rest and wonder if I had the energy to finish. Olsen and another fella went and got a decent little gap and the field was trying to decide what to do when all of a sudden I saw Dan launch on the left side with a great kick and he was gone and to the break. They stayed away for another half lap and that got me excited again. I decided I would try to place. At the bell I slotted in at about 12 wheels back. I lost a couple places on the back side and when we got to the 90 degree corner I was probably about 20th wheel but knew I could make up a few spots right after the corner. I had picked out a big Major Taylor guy to follow who hadn't appeared near the front until 2 to go. We came around the corner and suddenly the 12th - 15th guys were on the ground and I was heading fast toward them. I adjusted slightly, aimed for the curb, bunny hopped it, rode a big circle in the grass, got back onto the road and watched the back of the group pull away.

Watched the 3's command their race. As they came around the 2nd to last bend in the final lap we could see Ragot drilling it at the front. Who was on his wheel? He pulled off and we could see Rene coming fast and furious. It was so exciting to watch him hold off the charge and get the win. Big congrats.

JP, wasn't Greg Olsen in our race? Are telling me we could have gone over to Branchbrook on the way home and raced again?

Broke my helmet in two, shattered my seat stays, shattered right shifter, road rash all over my back, and luckily no issues with my head! Walked away from what was ultimately a very expensive race...

We were controlling that race until Mr Dickehead decided to bring 10 guys down.

I had a great time with the guys today despite my continuing lack of fitness. First time lining up with 4s and first time in a larger field. Took Marc's writing to heart and lined up right at the front with the rest of the guys. Dan and Joel right in front of me and all the rest right behind. First 1/8 of a lap was very slow, apparently the official's car couldn't find 2nd gear, but once it did I managed to slot in 2nd wheel and sit there. Someone attacked on the back "straight" and Conrad covered and Dan (right behind me) yelled instructions to let them go. I actually enjoyed the the on course coaching. When I didn't enjoy riding right at the front, I managed to drift back through the field. As I did so, I remarked to myself how much larger the field was than I'm accustomed (50% larger to be exact). I'll have to use the size to strategically recover and reengage when I do eventually upgrade.

I was already off the back when the crash happened and didn't see it. I managed to hook up with some other dropped riders and formed our own paceline and cruised around to get the finish for upgrade purposes and managed to get a decent workout. All and all a nice start to the weekend.

Regarding the crash, Interesting to see and does somewhat contradict my feeling of the severity of the swerve of the guy that caused the crash, annoyingly those stupid graphics are in the way but I cant really make out how it happened.

Time to start thinking about Branchbrook this year.

If the Spring Series happens, then it might be a toss up, but I want to race so count me in.

New racers; this is a fantastic series to get started with. If you are 35+ you can race twice each day - dont expect to ride away Cancellara style but you will get a ton of experience in a hurry.

Eric I'm down for studying at the wheel of "he who USED to work too much" in the 35+

I'm in for this. Not sure about doubling up. My race are back to back, but we'll see. 

@ Jeff back to back is the only way to do it.  Roll in out of breath, tear the top number off, switch bottles and buckle up for number 2.

Alright I'm easily convinced.
