That’s so awesome nathaniel, especially digging Adrian’s flightdeck.
Been taking Hugo to camp through the park. So much fun!
Hello everyone! A new honorary member of Kissena was just born! Adam Oliver Miller was born a week ago, the 13th at 6:49 local time. He and my wife are healthy, and my son Adrian is happy to be a big brother. Does Kissena have team onesies or diapers?

Speaking of diapers—more specifically, things that go into diapers—my son Adrian equates Kissena with winning. And lately, with every good poop, he says, "Yay! Poop Team Kissena, Daddy!!"

too much awesome, congrats!
Congratulations!
Fantastic news Nathaniel Maztov!
Congrats!!!
Had some pump track fun today and then watched stunned as Isaiah dropped Lisa on the mtn bike trail.

Proud to let you all know we welcomed our daughter Louie Frances Polk into the world on January 21 and everyone is doing great.  Louie said she plans to reach out to @RichFreeman about joining a new member ride shortly.

Curious to hear from some of the veterans how they got on with training and racing while balancing work and parenting, especially early on.  Any advice would be much appreciated as this is my first go with the whole parenting part.
Congratulations Rich! I found I got much faster when our first was born. Nothing like a little time pressure to make you efficient ;)

Three secrets:
  1. Do your intervals
  2. Do your intervals
  3. Do your intervals

Congrats Rich!

What Jules said. And I would add not to feel guilty about getting in some riding time. I know for many of us cycling is a key component of both physical and mental health - time outside, exercising, some socializing. A healthy dad is a better dad.
You've got a lot to look forward to!

congrats!!
Because you don't possess the silver bullet, you're in a secondary role for a while.  It's been my experience that having one person ready to be awake at all times is a plus.  If there's the cry in the middle of the night, only one person should heed it, so the other can sleep then and take care of things when the other needs to sleep.  I don't know why I found the division of labor surprising, but biology does make for a little rigidity on this front.

Both you and your partner should make a point of taking time for yourselves, both separately and together.  New mothers often find it harder, so it might take a push from you.

Naps are good both for the critter and for you.  They'll get longer and then shorter.  Don't feel bad about how you use that time. Sometimes it will be for bike riding, other times it will be to clean or shop or one or both adults taking a nap as well.

And as you've seen elsewhere on this DL, when you get a hall pass, you need to use it.

Congrats Rich and welcome to the club! Your daughter shares her birthday with an amazing woman - my mom!
Congratulations, and welcome to the parents club! Everything said is absolutely true, but also I wouldn't feel bad if you can't ride much, or at all. Enjoy your child. Be happy. It's such a wonderful gift to see your child grow, and be there for the small and big moments that will come. You will ride more another day. And if you can't get out and ride, you can also do stuff at home, like squats, planks, yoga, etc., which at least keep some muscle tone.
my older son and I went for a ride a few days ago, and he wanted to let the club know that it was his greatest bike ride ever. I’d have to agree. His confidence and skills are great, and most importantly he’s having a blast! His next bike will finally have a few gears so he can climb even better.

This Lad turned 18 this week ,and I just blinked

I used to think Jules' full face helmet was overkill until Hugo face planted it (while jousting with friend) and cracked a front tooth. Blood everywhere and trip to dentist during Covid. Go dad!
Ouch!
also consider chainmail

Ouch indeed! That was literally the injury Edwin warned me about (minus the jousting) I think I have two of those helmets gathering dust in the basement. Not sure if they even fit the kids anymore.

Kids break their baby teeth all the time.  Oscar had damaged one of his front teeth off the bike and it remained in his mouth, dead, for years.
Good times on a local gravel road.

this can probably go in several threads but since i'm now eligible, it goes here. riding has definitely fallen down the priority list several slots this year but i find the minutes when i can. mainly thanks to a structure i fondly call Zwift Tower. Wife isn't terribly fond of it, but you build with the materials you have.

Looking sharp!
Can't take one handed photos on the single-track but the before & after I can manage

Thanks Kevin, but I'd prefer to keep my kids out of social media. Please take it down. Feel free to use the photo of them from behind.
