reinforcing misinformation is always a possibility.  Bias can make for easy wish fulfillment.

You're kidding, right?  When she's pregnant you can race all you want.  It's the day AFTER she's pregnant that it comes to a skidding halt....

Man, so this is what goes on in the Family Man thread. I came here thinking it would reinforce the idea that I could still race bikes if Maria gets pregnant but it turns out you guys just talk about bouncy castles.

One of the organizations supporting NYC's bike lanes is looking for folks (families in particular), to show up and ride the Prospect Park West bike lanes this Sunday starting circa 11:00AM.  Apparently the case against the lanes is being re-heard in court and the idea is to come out as a group on Sunday to support the continued existence of the lanes. For further information, see..WERIDETHELANES.ORG

P.S.-In the interest of balance, here's one of the bike lane's opponents presenting a compelling case against the lanes.  (Warning: Harsh language.)

I love that video...I didn't know all Santa did in his off-season was swear about bike lanes in Brooklyn...nothing like shattering youthful dreams.
When I go to the park on a nice day and see the pristine avenue that is PPW and all the happy people using it it seems so odd that its such a lightening rod.
New Family Men: get the leg-shaving done at bath time #protip
Family Men - this Sunday is our day of glory!

And we MAMILs (Middle-Aged Men in Lycra) don't want ties, grilling gear or weed wackers.  We want time in the saddle!

I realize many are likely racing at Harlem....but for those who aren't....anyone interested in a family man ride over the GWB, followed by swing past 125th St. on the way home to watch some of our teammates crush it at the Harlem crit?

Holla....trying to figure out how to do this *and* work in some QT with the family as well, so open to suggestions.....
I'm not a family man, but I feel like I can easily visualize a day when I am one, so I feel justified in posting here.

Happy Father's Day fellow Family Men!
I couldn't make it up to Harlem Crit so I took my kids to see the Whale exhibit at the Museum of Natural History.  They have ONE family bathroom in the entire join and it's out of order... bathrooms are (seemingly) randomly distributed and the cafeteria serves something even the most inventive mind would never call "food"

That said I was a great start to the day... now to find myself a bucket of nice red wine...

my boy knows me.... (first "father's day menu" item....)
It's great to be a dad....
family men (with little ladies): do you want some free barbies?

i have loads of the things taking up space in my apartment.  wife is selling a bunch but we have a load that we are just going to give away.  someone better versed than i in barbie history would be able to comment on whether they are special or not, but they are all from the mid 90s and in original packing.

get them quick.  with them hanging about the place, my house looks like a creepy murder's.

p.s. to be clear, they are not my barbies.  they are my wife's, from when she was a kid.

A likely story...

Uh huh.  Tell us more, Waylon Smithers.

David,

As a Simpson's fan you know Waylon Smithers collects Malibu Stacy dolls, not Barbie. That can't be Mark, I mean "Mark's Wife" wink, wink.
@Marc Bertucco!    I know you're a crit guy and all - that doesn't mean Peter might not grow up to be a mountain goat one day - why not get him started early!

Nice! If you've seen his legs though...they say Match Sprinter all the way. Dude is also tossing around full bottles of Tropicana OJ now. Look out world!
The early ride does have it's advantages... recovery laps in the "other" park...

The best part of my weekend of racing in PA? After the early afternoon Iron Hill qualifier, I rolled over to the tree where my wife, boy and dog were sitting. Peter sees me, gets a huge smile on his face, crawls right over to me, climbs up to me and gives me the sweetest hug and kiss.
Family Men!  As promised...

Worth it?

Hugo and me today at the opening of the new pump track in Williamsburg. It's cool for kids.
Back to helmets - the Canadian rumor mills says we should be expecting a sweet new set of cycling MIPS helmets before long.  No idea what might have motivated that...

The fishing up here in the Northlands is great; some strange looking fish though...

Next up for family Bertucco is a fun weekend of track racing next Saturday (fingers crossed rain stays away), then Sunday to Highmount NY where the MTB race takes place on top of a ski mountain...accessible for racers and spectators by ski Gondola! Apparently the views are spectacular. The gondola ride might be worth the trip alone!
