You think that's bad Bruce? I ride a "Selle Italia Merkin."
I guess it's my turn -
Biking home last night in Astoria, about 7:30pm. 3 blocks from my apartment.
I'm going north and i see yellow and i try to catch the light (bad move). As I'm entering the intersection, I see a car on the right going west. I tried to turn left to avoid getting t-boned but still got clipped.
The car hit me in my right butt and hip and I roll over his hood. He stops and I end up on the pavement in front of his car. No broken anything. I didn't hit my head. No scrapes. The bike has no damage or scratch. Luckily the car stopped. The driver was not belligerent but he wanted to leave and said he would just give me his information. I told him to just stay and let's wait for the police. I call 911, an ambulance came within a couple of minutes, they ask me questions, check my heart rate, and I decide against going to a hospital. The cops show up a few minutes later and I request a police report (which btw - $10 to get a copy??)
I'm sore and my hamstring is really tight. On top of its hard to sit properly. It could have gone really badly.. This morning I woke up and was really disturbed at what could have been... I'm really lucky.
I heard a story from an attorney in Brooklyn that judges were handing down fines in the form of reams of photocopy paper! Hopefully this will allow the police to at least make a copy for you.

An article on crashing and concussion..
Tips for dealing with concussion
If you are concussed while riding (or if you have hit your head and might have sustained a concussion) you should consider the following steps:
1. Drop out of the race / stop riding
2. Recognise the symptoms of concussion
3. See a doctor
4. Understand when it’s safe to ride again
5. Know that concussion may not always resolve quickly
Last Friday night I banged a rib, but no immediate pain.
Sunday: raced and then 2 hours of tennis. Monday until now: it hurts, painful to touch and can't sleep on it.
It's not unbearable, and seems to be getting better, but should I be laying off the hill repeats or will it just go away slowly and business as usual?
