Love the photo.

How did you get your right leg to catch up to your left leg in terms of strength?
The right leg is bionic so it didn't any catching up.
And Kissena's own Mitch Sonies is actually the proud current owner of that trainer bike.
Rumor is the balls are also bionic
lol! I am was fooled... Love the caption by the way!!

So while I unleashed the kracken and burst though a gap over the weekend on the L&C to take the field sprint for 3rd it wasnt the only thing to burst though.

Saturday evening I developed a serious pain in my jaw, sunday it got worse and today ive just had to have surgery to remove a bastard of a wisdom tooth that had got all kinds of infected and swelled my mouth so much I couldn't physically close it. The thing was all sorts of burrowed in and took 3 hours and a whole load of drugs to cut out.

Im on some pretty heavy pain killers and antibiotics and will need to get the stitches removed next monday at the earliest assuming it heals quickly.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Could anyone shed any light on recovery? The surgen told me it really varies but I shouldnt expect to be "normal" for at least 3 to 5 days and ill need to keep the drugs up for 7 days.

Im guessing that throws any kind of training out the window this week too? Im hopeing the pain will stop and I can stop taking the pills as on them, im certainly not getting on a bike.

I asked about racing this weekend and the doc said it would be unlikely but I should see how I feel.

Balls
take it easy rest up and you will take the win next time
I hope evreone gets back on the bike soon!!!!!!!!!
Ashley,
My own recovery from an impacted wisdom tooth was ages ago. That written, it was pretty vivid. The drugs will do a pretty decent job of ruining any training you attempt. As they cycle out, you'll get better. The second thing is that so long as you have stitches in your mouth, you don't want to go au bloc anyways. Bursting stitches is no fun. A friend of mine, who was probably tougher than me, raced a few days after getting his wisdom teeth out. He burst something in his mouth during the race just from the effort of racing. Since it was the pre-internet era, I doubt any pics survived, but it was vivid enough for me to do endurance riding until my stitches were out.
Fine sprinting Ashley!

Bummer about the tooth. Try and dial down the stress whichever way you can (sleep, eat well). From my experience light exercise helps you recover quicker from an infection as does laying off the codeine—I think the Chinese know best on that one!
Think of it as a rest week!
Ashley,

Remember a week is no big thing, and treat it as an early recovery window. You won't lose any appreciable fitness, and it's a long, long season. Staying hungry is a part of the game.

Get some rest, embrace the down time and don't spend the week fretting that you "should be riding"

If you've got to rest, then do it properly, in your underwear, watching Simpsons reruns. Maybe rent Leroy for a night or two...
Did you say, STAY HUNGRY?!!!

And yes, Leroy will bring some ladies over to nurse you back to health.
I know nothing about dentistry but i know something about painkillers! If you need to take them to control the pain then that's that, but training while on them is not easy, endurance and whatever else you can handle without straining your body too much is what you should limit yourself to. As for antibiotics, that's not negotiable; after that, play it by ear.
For me, the biggest thing when dealing with the post wisdom teeth removal situation, is to make sure that you let the wound sites heal properly. I remember my oral surgeon advised salt water gargling frequently.
Ashley, have a speedy recovery!
I am going to get my clavicle pinned on Wednesday finally! I spent 5 hours at the Hospital of Special Surgery yesterday to have all the tests done. Of course, my wife is away in St Louis until Thursday so we have to deal with the complications on how to take care of our kids. The poor woman is freaking out, she just lost her father last week. But the procedure has to be done ASAP, since the bone is solidifying. The staff at the hospital is really top notch, so we'll see...
Damn Thierry, hope it goes well. u'll be bionic after that!

Thanks for the advice all, the annoyance is im set to take a holiday next week so this could end up being 2 weeks off the bike assuming im not on this week, not the end of the world I know but a pain non the less.
Good luck Thierry with your procedure
Yes, Thierry. Good luck with the procedure.
Thanks guys! I'll keep you posted on my progress.
