Vlad!  When we said "Destroy All" we meant on your bike, not actually elbow-slamming the PAVEMENT INTO SUBMISSION.

Heal up buddy, how's the bike?
Hoods are scraped, but probably salvageable. Rear Edge 65 is fucked. Will need to buy another rim. This was all on the backup bike. I'll have something to ride when I get out of here. Looking forward to some computrainer sessions.
That sucks, but your smile is something else. Heal up. Where is the race report?
Heal up soon dude. We'll dedicate a lap in your honor at tomorrow's FBF.

Vlad - that's a huge bummer dude! I mean the place looks sweet. But I'm sure you'd rather be riding your bike.

Get better soon.
Hey Vlad, are the movies in there any good?  When are you back in town?
This seems appropriate for your recovery.. and general about-town activities...

Sorry to hear vlad, but at least you got some fancy digs! Get well soon, sir.
Heal up Vlad
Ah.  Terrible!  Hope you heal fast.

My brother was asking who this was at the race:

I was all like, "Ah, that's Vlad, he'll be fine".
We have the culprit:

This one is amazing. There is a man riding his bike upside down!

Damn yo.
Looks like the guy who caused the crash was ok. That's usually how it goes.

He was just trying to read Vlad's computer.

They should not allow people who wear that kind of kits to races.

Three cheers for Orange Helmets!

Heal up quick mate.

Prayers for a speedy recovery, Vladeo.

In the photo it looks like that dude intentionally squeezed you out - is that what happened?

When do you go under the knife?  Do you get to keep the hardware when they are done?  Pictures?
As it turns out, destroying the elbow is nowhere near as painful as repairing the elbow. I was in surgery for about seven hours yesterday. I'm not quite sure what's holding it together, but I think there are a bunch of plates and screws there. The pain is excruciating. 10 out of 10. Just keeping it real. Even while loaded to the gills with a nerve block, oxycodone, dilaudid, and hallucinating from a fentanyl drip, the pain doesn't seem to want to go down.

They've decided to keep me here until Monday, I think mainly to try and prevent infection (which could make things uber real). I'm going to lose range of motion in my left arm and the surgeon has advised me not to race until the bone is fully healed, which should be in 6 to 9 months. So that's what's going on with me. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer. I just thought that I'd share the reality of this experience with you guys. This place is amazing and the staff is great. I'm sure I'll improve rapidly in the next few days.

As far as the race, that right turn is up at the end of a little grinder. I was able to work my way up to the front when a huge lane opened up on the right side, but I was gassed when I got to the turn. I was fading a little when I entered the turn and some guys surged by me on the left. The next thing I know, some guy dives into me as he comes by me on the left, knocks my bars and takes out my front wheel, and I go down. The picture sequence pretty much says it all.

I've thought about it a bunch these past few days and I don't think there is anything I could've done to avoid this crash. It's just some purely irresponsible riding by the guy in the stripy kit. I'm really glad that Owens' brother was there with the camera. It adds closure. These things happen so fast.

I'll be back. Going to work hard rehabbing and on the trainer. I've also reached out to Gary Steinberg who's back on the bike after sustaining the same injury last year at the Bound Brook Crit. I still love racing.
@Vlad that sounds like a rough fucking ride for sure.  You'll be back - probably with a "10/10" tat somewhere to commemorate things.

Wish there was something tangible we could do for you - if you need anything just holler.

@Vlad there is nothing suitable for polite company that I can say about your night nurse other than...
