^ so freakin awesome. Great teamwork guys. Look forward to joining you in a prospect or CP race this summer.

Agree. Report joggers lane violators without mercy. It'll likely be one of them to hurt some kid and end Prospect Park racing for good.
Call that nonsense out during the race too. It can make a difference. Tough on the last climb to do. but I've had it happen in a CP race. I made sure everyone around heard me. Nearly every racer feels the same way about it.

And I've been screamed at as a Cat 5 who couldn't keep from getting shoved into the joggers lane... but never for attacking.
So this might be a little morbid, but I've found a video of my crash. Not the greatest quality, but you can clearly see the NYCC guy on the yellow bike (left on the screen) looking at his teammate. I thought he hit the cone, but at 1:09:17 you can see the cone fly through the air and miss that guy. I wasn't so lucky. It landed right into my front wheel. I wonder who actually hit it. Yikes that shit happens fast.

The wheel rolling by is so not surprising
The moral of the story is don’t ride on side of road with cones cause some dumbass is gonna hit it.
Not keep your wheel on tight? Hmm
@myles Where do you see a wheel?
Sorry, first time in forum with new phone.  It took me to the TOP of the thread.   You know, the other cat 4 crash video
Really drives home how important helmets are. Can see your head konk all the way from here in MN :(
Glad you both are relatively ok - Patrick & Sebastien. I, for one, think it's pretty damn easy to hit a cone in a prospect race. Things get cranked up - you're in the middle of a pack - easy to forget where cones are - bam, you hit one. Sucks big time. PP needs a volunteer road crew and/or rogue contractors to secretly patch these things up in a timely manor.

First race of the year for me, and main objective was to help out Jeff. Easy. By the third lap, I almost got dropped on the hill & felt like a deeply deceived, sad, fat boy racer.

But the legs came around by lap 7-8 and I felt normal again. I was around 4th wheel going into the final hill, but then got majorly swarmed and stuck in the middle and was a bit suprised at how sketchy it got - I can hold position in a pack pretty well but that was unreasonably dicy - bunch of jabronies - almost crashed, probably ended up 30th by the top. I had good legs and was able to scoot around people on the outside until I got boxed in at about 15th and the sprint was over by that point anyway.

To quote wisdom to myself, from the 1990 Tony Scott cinematic racing gem DAYS OF THUNDER:

"RUBBIN SON, IS RACIN"

FYI - Nick Baker, yellow jersey and KOM leader in the 4's, is registered for the 2/3 Castelli race on Sunday.

I'm kind of sad to see Nick go. He's singlehandedly animated the cat 4 field all spring. Dude races with balls (sorry kids). That said, his green-jersey leadouts for his teammate (the current leader) were difficult to combat, so it'll be good in that respect.
Reg'd.  Cat 4.
Registered for Sunday's 1/2/3

anyone joining me?

depends on what happens tonight...if I wind up skipping the Merrick crit I'm in
I'm in for the 4s and still gunning for green.
I'm in
I'll be there in the 4s. The green jersey is up for grabs. James Hawkins (Maglia Rosa) holds first place with six points. Our very own Jeff White sits in second with five, followed by two more riders also with five.

And with the departure of Nicholas Baker, the next best-placed rider in the KOM competition has only five points. Also anybody's jersey.
It's gross out...and I'm tired...Sunday is looking up
undecided here. small chance I come and just sit in. I can't shake this upper respiratory thing. it's really starting to get on my nerves though.
Bike washed...openers done...alarm set...looking ok for a start tomorrow

Nice day to race a bike in the park.  I got up extra early, cuz my allergy meds had me feeling like I was pumped full of pot belge (older doping reference lost on younger readers).

Got to the park so early I even had time to do a proper warm up on the rollers.  This helped. I saw J.P., Jeff and Vlady who is back from Florida for good. The race felt pretty fast early with no real threatening moves to speak of all day.  That sneaky stuff where guys attack after the KOM & sprint was covered well.  With about 3 to go I thought I saw a Habitat guy going clear with maybe 3 others on the hill.  I tried to bridge near the start finish and almost made it across...but no...break absorbed shortly after anyway.
6...count em.....6 guys pulled from the 1/2/3 race for jogger lane violations.  The race marshal on the scooter had to change the batteries on his cattle prod
All good things come to an end...and so did this race.  I couldn't find any teammates to collude with so I made my way to the climb where I promptly shouted...

ok...I didn't...but I thought about it. (that one was for you Whitey)  Halfway up the climb a kerfuffle occurred and the gent in front of me locked em up hard (NOT MY FAULT VLAD!).  I double fisted my brake levers and my hopes at a top 20 were dashed...I soldiered on though to finish 45th...meh.  That's alls I gots save for the obligatory cheesecake shot

Seacrest out....

Jesus Yaks we gotta get that sock order underway, because #damn
My sweat is turning them hi-vis orange.  POC charges extra for the hi-vis.  The guy on my right isn't doing much better in the sock department...what the hell is going on there???

Green Sprint 1: James Hawkins, who had the green jersey, led the field for around half the lap, hit the front again on the bottom of the uphill and basically walked away from us all. I was around fifth wheel slaying myself up the hill and when I crested and had a look around the bend, James was all alone well up the road. Worried it would bunch up behind me, I went to the front, kept it strung out, and sprinted for second. 2 points.

Green Sprint 2: After digging really deep for the first sprint, I was dismayed to see the (first) dots flag AND the (second) green flag come out on the very next time around. It was going to be ugly, and I was all the way back in the caboose. I could only move my way to around the top 15 by the uphill. I was picking my way through as best I could, when I came up behind a couple guys who seemingly weren't making much of an effort to stay on the dots sprinters' wheels and I couldn't get through. Lucky for me, one of those guys was our very own Max Thorn. Thinking he wasn't feeling great, I yelled "GO, MAX, GO!" assuming he'd basically give it enough of a dig so I could get through and up to the leading clump. Instead, Max spun it way up and dragged me right past the leaders (including James) going through the lefty chute, all the way to around 200m to go to the line. I sprinted from there, had to sit down for a sec, and got back up as I got within 50m to empty out the watts. I got pipped at the line by some random dude who I don't believe is even in the running for the jersey. As it turns out, James only saw the dots flag and didn't know it was a green sprint lap too, so he didn't get any points.

So at the end of the day, James and I are tied at 9 points apiece, and due to the fact that the tie goes to the winner of the last sprint I'll be in green at the next race! HUGE thanks to Max, who has given me a couple of crucial leadouts. I bought him a donut and some Battenkill chocolate milk at Doughnut Plant post-race.

fortune favors the bold...you get to keep that kit no matter whats...jersey pursuits are stressful and brain farts happen (I once missed a start cuz I was on my rollers in the rink parking lot and lost track of time).  Sounds like it's going to be a nasty pillow fight between you and Mr. Hawkins
and sorry I missed the doughnuts...I received a panicked text from the home front = completely out of toilet paper....duty called
@Jeffrey White

That's awesome. The fact Hawkins got ZERO points on the second sprint is great news. On the other hand, he seems like a monster given the the way you describe the first sprint.

We have some work to do as a team to keep you in the jersey.

Game on!
Great job!
