I'm going for KOM.
The current leader has 14 points, and is not signed up.
2nd place has 11 points and is not signed up
3rd place, 6 points, and is signed up to race. Fuck this guy.

I have 1 point. And the advantage that low numbers are signed up overall, and the first two places are not. And 1 point is just enough to piss me off.
If I win both KOMs, that will put me at 7 points, 3rd place overall, but only if Davis on Dave Jordan doesn't go after the KOM. And he will, you can count on it. He also has more than enough points to upgrade, so perhaps the sandbags will slow him down a bit.
If I come in 2nd on both, that gives me 5 points overall, tied with 4th, and if Davis takes both, he bumps to 12, moving him to 2nd place.
With two more races after Saturday, 3rd place overall in the series KOM is a good goal, and 2nd place a possibility.
Dave Jordan has 6 signed up. They will give Davis a leadout on the hill, as they've done before. They'll probably stay left, since that seems to be their practice. They train together but they don't race well together, so I anticipate a leadout, but not all 6.
Unless I'm in their train, I'm going to be on the far right. I'm going to take the potholes. I'm going to eat shit. I'm going to get out of my saddle and sprint before they do and hold it longer than they can.
There is usually a Sprint and KOM on the same damn lap. If that's the case Saturday, I'm going for the KOM. I will be part of an uphill leadout, but if I pull away (!), then know why I'm sprinting so hard and let me go.
If I have anything left at the top, I'll try and sweep behind when you swing by, which I did the last time I got that point.
I will do my best to be part of a leadout on any other lap when there's a sprint. I'm a mid-pack finisher and don't need to save anything for the end of the race.
We don't let breaks go. At least one Kissena should try and jump on any that start to form - Jeff, keep an eye out - I know you patrol the front, as does Eloy.
The sprint points are real, so keep efforts leading out Jeff, no need to divide efforts. There's a big showing of KCC Orange in the 4s, and KOM points are open. Jeff's Green takes precedence, but if there's a KOM when the sprints are done, everyone should be looking for it.

I'll likely be there. very low on race miles but i'll help out with jersey chasing. i'd like to mix it up toward end of race, post-green jersey sprints, see if I can get off the front with anyone and if not, go for sprint

Just so ya'll know, there is this Canadian kid in town w his dad. Met them doing loops in the park last night. The kid is maybe 14/15 and he is the velodrome champion (whatever that means) for all of Canada (again, not sure what that means). But this kid is wicked strong. He was out at FBF tonight and beat everyone by close to a full lap. He lapped me and a couple other guys (not saying much, I know). They combined the 4/5s with Masters...so a decent size crowd he dusted. He's a CAT 4.
Anyway, they're in town literally to just race. He's also going to Giro De Cielo right after Saturday's L&C race. they're hardcore.
Everyone was kissing his ass afterward. I suspect he's going to be a major contender on Saturday. Keep an eye out for him. He's got a blue cervelo w enves. I will say he and his dad are super nice, they rode back to the hood with me after the race.

Both Nick and Bram have upgraded and are in the 1/2/3 field so their points are locked.
Which means with 3 races left the KOM is open for anyone.
Not sure of my fitness after being off the bike for a few weeks but if I'm feeling good I'm in for helping with the jersey chasing.

It looks as though he has enough points to be a Cat 2 already, and on 6/22, he raced in the 123 field.

Shows an estimated Avg Power of 367 for 1:10. (Dad needs to buy him a power meter).
Clearly, Cat 4 is not challenging for him. Is there some rule about him not upgrading because he's a junior? Or were some of his races not USAC sanctioned, perhaps. He shouldn't be in the Cat 4 race Saturday, simply because he won't get anything out of it. People need to race with their peers, not with their Dads (who's also signed up).
That being said, there's always someone faster, there's always a ringer who shows up. Every single race. This is no different. Our strategies still apply, even if there's a 13 YO off the front.

Junior can race whatever field he wants. None of us are in any position to criticize his or his parents decisions or what he gets or not from racing, but frankly I cannot think of anything more awesome than racing with dad.

I think it's because the ranking system in Canada is not apples to apples to our CATs. He doesn't have enough US races yet. Some UCI rule automatically puts him in CAT 4? He and his dad are really great. genuinely good people. I thoroughly enjoyed riding in the park with them for about an hour Wednesday night and riding back to Park Slope with them last night.
