i think i signed up volunteering
I would also like to race,
we should get there by 5am?
I signed up for volunteering next Saturday. See you guys there!
What time do we need to be there to help with registration?

Charlie says 5:30 for reg help - see you all there.
Registration volunteers should show up at 5:30.

There is no waitlist for the 123 field, but there are still spots for day of registration in 4 field

I signed up to marshal. If someone is dying to do so I’d be willing to swap and race :-)
Some motivation for you tomorrow - believe in yourselves!

I just realized that tomorrow will be the coldest temperature I've ever raced in. Racing in Texas was never colder than about 50. This is going to hurt.

My general recommendation is not to race in a winter jacket.  They typically don't breathe enough.  If you're limited in clothing, a wind vest over a long sleeve jersey and a few layers underneath the jersey.

Ride over in warm clothes, including a winter jacket.  Strip down at the last minute.  Have an extra set of gloves, possibly extra baselayer(s), possibly extra hat for the ride home.
For the 1/2/3's, we've got a full field and some deep teams.

I expect Weather Channel and Jamison (formerly Lupus) to be duking it out.  WC will try to set up Margarite, possibly by going for early attacks then having him bridge.  Jamison has a few options with Baldwin and Rego for the break, Savory for the sprint.

But rockstar, jordan, 5th floor, maglia rosa all have big squads.  Combinations are the key to the break succeeding.
It took five laps before I could feel my fingers and toes again, but that was great. That loop is a fun race course! Can't wait for next weekend!
Yes, a chilly start for sure but felt great to be back at the races. Felt like a well mannered bunch out for some fun.

I positioned myself well over the top of the hill for both green jersey sprints but didn't have the pop to get into the points. Hopefully we can organize ourselves as the season progresses and at least use these to practice leadouts.

On the final lap I had a chat with Ricky who said he was interested in sprinting. I knew I didn't have enough left to take him over the top but figured I could at least keep him out of the wind and give him a ride to the front before the hill. I gathered John O and we made our way forward but Ricky got boxed in a bit and lost our wheel. In the end he was able to freelance to tenth, a nice result.

Booted some guy from our table at Konditori and warmed up with coffee and muffins courtesy of Patrick who made $40 as marshall captain.
I had a solid race today. Tried to ride smart (stay out of the wind) to conserve some energy to be there at the end. The race wasn't sketchy except for a traffic cone that shot out in front of me at the bottom of the hill on the 2nd lap, luckily i was able to bunnyhop it. After that it was mostly mellow, no one really trying to break away from the group.

Tried to follow Jim up to the hill on the last lap but got pushed out into the wind on the outside of the pack. I was able to work my way through the pack and jump on Johns wheel who pulled me up the hill and put me in a good spot for the final sprint. Maybe if I went a little earlier I could've placed.

Overall i was very happy with the result (my best finish ever) and hope to keep it going through the rest of the season!
Two questions:
  1. Is there a way for volunteers to pre-reg for the race they are volunteering at and get the free registration that day?

  2. Can someone lend me a Kissena jersey for the race Saturday? (I'm a medium in the race-cut)
@JohnPowell What size are you? I am not racing on Saturday so you can borrow mine. I'm a large.
@RobertPeras Ah, forgot that important bit of information. I'm a medium.
@JohnPowell well if you don't mind wearing a jersey that may be a bit big on you, you are more than welcome to borrow mine.
In years past if you pre-reg for a race, Charlie would give you cash reimbursement at the race. I don’t know if he does that anymore. He will definitely credit you towards a future race. So if you paid for and volunteered last weekend and want to use your credit this weekend, simply email him at charlesissendorf@gmail.com and let him know you have a credit and let him know what race and field you’d like to be registered for (include your license number). He will sign you up.

@JohnPowell By by the way I am happy to lend you a medium jersey but as of right now it looks unlikely that I’ll be at the race Saturday. Let me know if you need it for a future race
I volunteered last weekend and he comped me the race that day. Just don't want to miss one on a day I volunteer in case it fills up in pre-reg
