It's time I get serious -- Reg'd for the 5s. 

thank you John...( why do i feel like i'm gonna hurl when you say that?)  I would like to just  see if i can stay in the race this time... and will work at leading out someone for the sprint.

Hey, I haven't gone back to read all the comments to piece together the impending narrative of this weekend's racing in PP, but it seems a little scatter-shot right now. Seems like lots of people giving vague-ish shout-outs to "help." But you need a plan. And folks to step up.

1. Road captain. Someone, anyone volunteer. One captain for each racing squad. You don't have to be the strongest guy, but you should be able to last from start to finish and have good vision of the race and keep a close eye on all that's going on. Also, should be able to give direction during the race.
2. Roll call. Who's racing?
3. ROLE call. Who's doing what? Commit to a role.
   
4. Plan of attack. Literally, and figuratively. I know shit changes all the time. But start with a plan and riff off of that as the race unfolds.

If a bunch of you Brooklyn based riders can manage to get together, maybe sometime before the race maybe on Friday or tonight and work on some leadouts to help get you in the right mind frame for the race, that would be great. Consider it your Friday, "openers" pre-race ride. Mostly easy, with a few leg opening efforts.

I'll be there with a few remaining team branded bottles for people who want to buy them, and a suitcase full of heckles for you KOM lads.

I don't understand how someone else has it...from what i understood we were tied for points. Is it who ever finished better overall breaks the tie?

if memory serves, whoever wins the second sprint gets the jersey if there's a tie for points?  i think that's to reward racers who stay in the race, as undoubtedly there are some peeps who contest the first, snag their 3 points, then drop.

We have strength in numbers and so should use it. Anyone want to volunteer to pulling back serious looking breaks should we not be represented. Likewise we should aim to have guys in moves that go so we dont have to control the field. Again its a short race and so should be high paced.

Please remember, if we have a guy up the road, dont drive the peleton unless your blocking.

Although im only just picking up my cycling over the last month I feel ok and so want to try something this weekend. This weekend will be my last weekend as a 5 so I plan on inflicting some hurt either as a finishing sprint or a break depending on the circumstances play out. With Sundays race being slightly more distance I might look to getting in a break on Sunday but sprinting on Saturday.

Generally speaking in the results ive had in prospect, its the sprints that start slightly early on the left before anyone else jumps that can cause surprise in the 5s, for some reason everyone likes to go right, and late. Leadout wise, you want to set up the sprinter to be at full flight at or just before the lights, later than that and id say youve missed the jump.

Andrew you can get that jersey this weekend.  You just have to figure out how you are going to beat that guy.  If you are faster than him great.  If he is faster you will have to use some guile.  You could follow the green in the 1st sprint and see how you match up with him.  You could also get a 2 or 3 man lead out...just be sure you have at least 2 Kissena's on your rear wheel to sweep.  You don't want to be somebody else's lead out.  Then there is the cheeky, jump at the parking lot move.  I've employed this to great success in years past.  The trick here is to get as many Kissena's on the front before the parking lot and have them soft pedal when you jump.  

I'll be more than happy to be the finish line penultimate leadout man, can drive two on my tail from back of the pack to the front until gazebo: I think would be a good spot for last leadout man to take over.

Who are we looking for to take the win, that is, who are we leading out for the final sprint?

I can be final leadout, behind Alyosha - I'll be looking to slot in behind him before the pinch by PP SW.

I can lead out and or sprint if need be... depending of course on how toast i am from the green sprints. 

I nominate Whitey going for the win in the 4s and Dan "Bossy Pants" Reiners as the road captain. I've got roles for everyone else based on my highly precise algorithm if anyone wants to listen.

Andy, Yack, Alyoshas, McKay - you guys should reg online. There are 73 reg'd in the 4s at this time. 84 reg'd in the 1/2/3 and Cat 5 is full. I think the weather has enticed people to race.

Given my fitness level, I'll likely be yelling from the sidelines. I'm frustrated, but I'm ahead of my fitness at this time last year and I have to remember that I was ski racing just a month ago.

I think Lt. Dan is our road captain as long as he's in the race and he's still a 4.

@twoyacks, Lets see. The guy currently in the jersey didn't contest the first sprint so I have no Idea if I'm faster than him. Between my track legs starting to come back, and a good lead out up to 200 meters I feel pretty good. 

As you all know from last week (heh), I'll generally be near the front, ready to help. So feel free to come talk.

Harry, you're a 4? get out!

I'm in for helping someone with green jersey sprints. We could use a couple more guys committed to getting to the front for those laps and taking part. If Andy is our guy then let's make sure we get him up there and have at least 3-4 guys in place for a solid lead-out and 1-2 sweepers. Since Andy is tied on points and not marked he should have a good shot. Listen to Yacks on green points strategy. BTW, I sprinted against the guy with the jersey in the second sprint last week and while he beat me I think he's not exceptionally fast.

I'll also help with the final leadout as well if we have a group for that and someone willing to sprint.

Also happy to help get someone into a break and cover moves, etc... Jeff, I think the sprint sweeper to break move after the second green sprint is worth a try.

Dan is a good choice for road captain. Listen to him.
