I would give a report... but it was all a blur. I remember rolling off the front before the second sprint and yelling at the guy leading me up to the sprint "... good job! keep going! we have a gap". All lies of course. Hopped back on and was definitely in the red going up the hill, when all the sudden I felt a gentle hand pushing me. Thanks Yacks for the push, and thanks everyone. As Jeff said, Jim was riding with a super cool, smart, Pro like confidence about him today.

Wanted to help, with Dan behind me telling me 'I have Andy on my wheel, move us up' but shortly after that I rode through that nasty pothole before the bandshell and double pinch flatted! Thankfully, Phillip had a patch kit so I was able to repair one tube and change the other and witness the crash in the 4s from the sidelines. Yea it didn't seem like it was a sprint for 30th type of thing but just some bad last second weaseling at the front.

I know 2 Carl Hart riders. One doesn't have bib shorts and I have to look at his ass crack throughout the race. The other almost ran Eric off the road today. One of them (I have no clue who) advance in the joggers lane. I'm guessing it is the guy who took 9th but I was too far away to say for certain.

It was likely Austen Galea. I bumped into him in the Carl Hart shop this morning. He had told me he was bumped out of the peloton so hard by someone that his shoe unclipped. This is not being presented in his defense, but may help to shed some light on the story.

The guy that almost took me out wasn't ass crack or the big sprinter guy (that hit me coming into the sprint - so I backed off).The guy was the other guy. Could have been Austen. He wasn't apologetic.

My friend Stephan Chang had one of those fancy handlebar cameras on during the IV race this morning. He was directly behind the shit show...when he uploads the vid...I will check it out and see if I can spot the ass-clown who caused that mess.

A local bike shop owner took the time to reach out to us today because he and another rider were buzzed at high speed today by a KCC at Vanderbilt & Flushing. Someone wearing a backpack and new kit with red chain stays blew by them and then make an erratic turn onto Flushing.
We don't have a formal code of conduct on KCC but we do try and abide by the old coaches maxim,
"Don't do anything that would embarras you, your family or your team."

Lapses in judgement happen but when you put on your team kit please remember that there are 100+ other riders you are representing right now, 49 years of riders before you and of course the sponsors on your jersey.

My brief race report for the L&C 04/27
Arrived early to get my number on the right side and warm up. Warmed up with a handful of the other Kissena 5s and then we were off. I have to say, when you prepare leading up to race season, be in shape, eat well, sleep well and know you have done your homework as far as training goes you can go into the race knowing you have done everything you can and feel good about it. Well I didnt, I felt pretty bad I have to say. The repeated sharp efforts had me gassed and even moving around in the pack felt new to me its been so long. I followed everything staying mostly close to the front on and off and when it came to the last lap I had more or less written off contesting the sprint, just didnt feel good and saw too many wobbly wheels in front. Came into the last 400m and I found myself maybe 15 from the front carry speed so I just kept it up. The jump went, I was right in the middle of the pack with riders left and right of me, I let it go not felling safe but then instantly changed my mind when I saw Mark infront of me go, when I saw the gap opened from the guys left and right pulling away and Mark in front of me I dropped a shade under 1300w and came back up to 3rd place loosing it just on the line to get 4th.
Pretty happy all things considered, this time last year I would have muscled my way into a better position and gone with the jump but I have to say, seeing what happened in the 4's im happy I kept it conservative and still came away with some hardware.
