From Jeff to Jeff:  we have even more in common now except I fractured my right one into 4 pieces and only broke 3 ribs.  Let's get a tandem bike.

The next day is indeed the worst.  No surgery?  Let us know if you need anything

Holy crap hope you heal up well and soon!
Get better soon jeff. Dont hesitate to let us know if you need anything.
looking forward to seeing you back at the races, jeff.  a whole off-season to heal!
I was wondering how you could crash from your perpetual fourth-wheel position. Hopefully today isn't as bad as people are making it out to be. There's no good time to collarbone yourself, but I would dare say this is the ideal time to do it. Anyway, yeah, great season, and heal up quickly.

Props to Adam for being a proper teammate. I, for one, am a little surprised he didn't just offer a pat on the back, a "better luck next time, old chap," and then just peace out.

Also, in the photo it kind of looks like you're pulling up the gown a little to show off some extra leg. If so, thank you.
Sorry about the crash.  Feel better. Heal quickly.
Sorry to hear about your crash Jeff, it gives me bad memories. I hope to see you on the bike real soon.
That's bitter news, Jeff. Heal fast. It was great training and racing with you this season. Looking forward to seeing you back on your bike soon.

Ahhh. crapola...heal well. Take your pain killers, take deep breaths.

sending you good vibes, Jeff
You may be wondering how it is possible for Jeff to have broken 6 ribs, a collarbone and got a load of road rash.  His tyre blew out-still hard to figure out why.  Here is the course profile for the race BTW:
Thanks all. I'll be back in time to test out my new fall/winter kit.
*****WARNING*****

Do not let wives/girlfriends see this next post (or for our racing ladies, husbands/boyfriends).

*****WARNING*****
This is the exact moment when Jeff's tyre blew.

According to my Garmin data from the last 3 years (the time I've had my rides recorded), this is the fastest I have ever been on a bicycle.  Ever.

Ugh.
Now I know what happens when you crash at that speed.  thanks to Condon for doing the hard work so the rest of us don't have to test it out.  And the hospital smile is priceless. Perhaps hospital pics should have its own thread.

Or not.

Today during the Vuelta Sean Kelly said the fastest he'd ever gone on a bike was 124 kph.

Uhhhh, that's 77 mph for us 'merikkans!  No thanks.  I think the fastest I ever hit was 57 mph.  That was plenty.
around 40 mph i involuntarily start thinking about how much it would hurt to fall.
zomg

Jesus. The momentum over 55 feels so insanely crazy to me that I've only done it a handful of times. I can't even IMAGINE barreling down a mountain at 77!
Nooooooooo. Can't believe it Jeff, I hope it all heals quick quick. Can anyone recommend supplements that will help bones heal, maybe glucosamine — Dr Stokes?
Also, 5 ribs! Is that a club record?
Anyone planning to hit this one up on May 10th?  Since Bear is on Mother's Day I'm planning on doing this one, most likely in the Masters. Any joiners? Johnny M?

Jeff, you so crazy! You only have to scroll up a few posts to read about your insane wreck at 55 mph last year!

Oh yeah, and I'm planning to race this one. Goosing my mileage a bit in the meantime to prepare! Also, it'll be a great preview for the NEW YORK STATE ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS this summer on the same course.
I'm in, pending necessary #hallpass

I might do this one. Not 100% quite yet. If you guys want to pre-ride the course one weekend LMK.

@Jeff I could ride as support for you in this race. Could probably make it over the shorter climbs, but last mile or so 8-10% grade might be a tall order.

I think River Road to Ranger Station is only 6% with a short 8% and same distance.
I would like to do this race, especially with that finish.

But, that's likely 10 days post-birth of my first child, so the likelihood that I will be (a) unprepared; or (b) unable to get away seems high.

Still, you never know...
