NNNNNNNNNNN!
Man I have a huge butt. Also, I didn't know those other guys I was towing around were so huge. Why didn't they take any damn pulls? I coulda gotten a decent draft!
The usual suspects...
This is me laughing at Jeff as his big butt goes by
By the way, did anyone else notice that Lance S was riding 50m BEHIND the field doing the whole race in TT mode? Must be some super secret polish training technique.
Aly those are som *CRAZY* eyes.
Nice job.
@Jeff - That Foundation dude on your wheel is really strong, and usually works in breaks. Guess you were just going too fast.
Plus he kinda looks like Jeff Goldblum.
Anybody going tonight?
You know it
@Jeffs - That Foundation guy is Nathan Brauer. He's a nice guy that is very strong in breaks. I've been in a few with him. It's easy to get him motivated in a break, just be careful that your attack doesn't motivate him too much when he's on the front because I've seen him single-handedly pull back a few moves.
Yeah, he's super nice. We were making fun of the 3/4 series leader when he was going ape-shit. I remember meeting him at the tour of Connecticut 2 years ago, think he was on Setanta then. Did i hear Greg Donovan say he was going the Sunday race at Giro de Cielo? COMBACK 3.0!
I met Nathan Brauer at Battenkill, he's a brooklynite as well. great guy.

Love it.
Considering it

Yeah, I've been doing focused training since the fall with an eye on a peak for Killington. With that over, I'm a little mentally burned out. So its nice to train by just showing up, racing, getting some aggro out and enjoying some camaraderie, then coming home and watching the NBA playoffs.

I was also intrigued by my near-miss of the top 10 in the field sprint at the CRCA FBF race over the weekend. Contesting field sprints is not something I've done a lot of. Its a missing piece in my race skill set and I wanna do more of it to gain confidence. I'll never be a very competitive sprinter, but I'd like to be a more complete racer. And I suspect at our level a lot of what's lacking in my sprint can be made up for by smarts.

And, with any luck I might be able to eek out the last few points I need to upgrade to 3.

So, you'll probably see me at FBF on Tuesdays and Thrusdays for the next few weeks!
I'll be there tonight.
Have fun tonight guys - sitting this one out.
Thunderstorms are massing at the border.
This just in:

A little birdy (Ryan) told me Ryan took third. Meaning: he can get the hell out of the 4's! Congrats. Looking forward to the reports.

Ragot and I got loaded with Luka. Almost the same thing.
omg

that is awesome, ryan!
yes!!!!!!!!
CONGRATS!!!
Nice work Ryan!
He also won a few primes.

Full disclosure: every lap had a prime. It was insane.

Still a killer accomplishment. Ryan was making it rain so hard after the race that a rainbow appeared.
excellent
Ryan, congratulations dude!
Thanks all.

Fun racing tonight! The many primes made the race hard, which worked out well for us.

Knowing I've been trying to steal a few final upgrade points John and Dave had offered to work for me, which I was pretty psyched about; it's not often those two hosses are gonna work for me in a race like this! Plus on Tuesday I totally blew a monster leadout from John by chickening out a bit and losing position. Tonight I was determined to to save face after such a shameful showing.

At about 7 to go I rolled off the front on the tailwind stretch after turn one and the field was going really slowly. I really wasn't looking for a solo move but I always figure once you're out there you might as well go for it. So I settled in and they never really chased and I got a nice big gap that I was able to hold for a couple laps, eating up two primes. After the second prime I sat up and waited, intending to recover for the sprint.

Shortly after John got crossed up a bit with good ol' Carl on one of his patented "now seems like as good a time as any to do something completely unpredictable" moves. Note to all Kissenas: Carl, who used to be a Kissena, is NOT a good rider to be anywhere near.

The primes continued lap after lap and the race stayed fast. As we rolled across the line with one to go we were going really slowly and I realized there were two off the front. I wasn't sure when it had happened, but they had a good 15-20 seconds, I think. They were far enough away that I couldn't see for sure who it was.

No one was chasing. With only 5 places available I didn't like the idea of two guys getting a free pass. I also didn't want to chase and ruin any chances I had in a sprint. Bad situation either way. I decided to help chase. I laid it down hard thinking if I could bring them back early enough I could recover a bit before the sprint. A Waffles n' Dinges rider was on my back wheel. Unbeknownst to me (he was big and I really couldn't see around him when I looked back) my hammering had opened a gap and the two of us had 5 seconds or so nearing the final turn. I'm pretty sure John and Dave did their part back in the main field to help the gap establish itself.

A teammate of his who I know is a beast bridged and immediately pulled through. We blew by the two man break. Coming around the final turn we had maybe a 4-5 second gap. These were two big powerful guys and I just stared at their wheels, stayed in the saddle, and hammered across the line for 3rd.

With my two primes and third place, plus a prime that John picked up, we covered all of our entry fees and still had a few bucks left over.

Thanks to all the Kissenas who have been helping me out down at FBF the last week or so, and in the out-of-town hill races for the last year. I owe some favors and I'm excited to oblige!

Oh by the way, John insisted that I need to have my picture taken in front of the rainbow. So, here's maybe the dorkiest post-race picture of all time...
