I'm right with my man JJ, I like the idea of a free lap. You know hang out grab a coffee if your not feeling the race, then jump back in with 1 or 2 to go. If you don't feel like working and are just waiting for a field sprint who knows the race might be safer without you. Right? Why not?

Two little Kissenas born yesterday. JP and Beth welcomed #2 into the world. A baby girl, which means we'll have a women's team again in a few years!

Thanks guys! A little boy, named Wynne August Carey (wifey didn't go for all my cyclist-oriented names). Hopefully, he'll make a guest appearance at Kissena, PP or Floyd this summer to cheer (cry) Daddy on.

Bill, JP & Co. jolly good show old chaps (and chapess's)! Good show Michael for laying it down last night.

Race was hawd like a gangsta from the start. I jumped on a guy's wheel who did a flyer out of the blocks and begrudgingly took a lap into the back stretch headwind and then it was bam, bam, bam counter after counter. Into lap two, more attacks, missed a wheel and I got spat. Wojciech casually cruises past asking if I'm enjoying the race (dragging JaJo along in his wake). Solo for a while and then see Jeff and Norm collecting a chase group. Rest of race TTT + two punctures. 2nd one rode flat for 1/3 lap (ride bike like unicycle). Hated getting lapped 2 to go.

Random stuff: attacked by kamikaze WWII fighter plane—crashed right next to us! Seeing big orange gloop of sun go down bell lap. So much water/crud.

Question: Is there a limit to how many mechanicals/punctures you can take a lap out for? I was talking with the race organizers and they were telling me I couldn't contest the sprint 2nd time. But perhaps they thought I was going to try jump back in with the main pack, not the chase group. I thought as long as I rejoin where I left I'm OK. I'm pissed off at these riders who jumped on the front bunch when we got lapped (DR guy in yellow/Brooklyn Blue?). Did they get points/places? If so, tremendously lame.

During the warm up, before the cat 5 crash, one of those remote model planes dive-bombed us! Misjudged it's speed and bought the farm within about 20' of us. I thought something had fallen off of a real plane or something. The many dangers of FBF!

Look out for the man-eating mole rats as well.

I think it comes down to a morals issue as far as the whole "free lap" situation is concerned. I could have easily claimed a mechanical or have let the air out of my wheel out as soon as I got dropped and then re-joined the field but I didn't. None of us Kissena's did, that's why there were 4 of us and only two other riders who decided to "chase" the main group. JJ dropped out and rejoined the group as did his friend who went onto the main group when we got caught from behind. I talked to Horrace after the race but he claimed they both got flats and re-joined the groups legally, as did the other slew of riders who supposedly got flats. They also "recorded" any dropped riders numbers to make sure that they don't place them if they do sprint with the group.

Does anyone know what happened to the whole 3/4 field? From what I heard there were three 3/4's in the group left. Did the other 10-15 riders just drop out and leave before the race even ended? If so then I came in 5th, Norm in 6th and John in 7th, though I don't think they took our numbers as we finished our one extra lap. Oh well.

I was out there just spinning and screwing around after I got dropped, scanning the field(s). Like you said, where did all the 3/4 guys go? Other than Leznek, the scottos dude, and Mike, noone else was in the main field. Or your chase group. I think.....What I suppose happened was, unlike me, those guys have bigger egos (not a bad thing, mind you) and when they decided to drop out, they went straight to their cars or rode off course and home. Me? I'm cruising around after burning $20 to race with a bunch of 1/2 powerhouses and waiting for Mike to give me a ride home!

Getting so psyched reading the updates...I probably won't be able to make it out to FBF much this summer, but I hope to fit a couple in before my crazy internship starts.

Main goal: Mike winning. He won't have the jersey this week as Leszek placed higher last week, although their tied.

Since Mike is not in the Jersey I think we can play it cool. Before the race however we need to make sure everyone knows what Lance/ Graham/ JJ/ Dan looks like so if you end up in a break with them make sure not to work at all. I'll probably attack early and hard a few times (I'm 19, I need to get that energy out somehow) If something looks promising someone should bridge Mike up to it, but I doubt anything will stay away early as Leszek and others are going to work on chasing it down.

It looks like we will have a head-wind sprint coming in at about 12mph. The pack will once again get split up and it's important to be top 15 at all times. If someone wants to get the prime make it known beforehand so we work for you not against you

Tomorrow we will be 1/3 of the way through the first series.

I'm planning to come out, so feel free to factor me into your plans

As usual we'll have numbers advantage. The only thing I'd ask of my teammates is if you get in a break with any of the other points contenders you don't work. I'll try to point them out to you. Just so you know their teams:

Other than that, we have lots of cards to play. A win for Wojciech puts him right up to the top. Other dudes are strong. If WDC is in the race, he is strong as an ox right now. Ryan has been racing California 4s which is the equivalent to NYC 2s

We can play it cool but our strength is in attacking attacking and attacking, busting up the field, and getting away. If we are sitting back at the start we need to make sure we are following anything that has the main dudes in it.

Andy DaSilva won the Cat 5 with a nice solo break and held off the field. Great job.

Really nice teamwork and racing. Lined up for the 3/4s with Malcolmson, Jan, Owens, Joe Mueller, Norm, and Wojciech.

I won the 3/4 race. Malcolmnson 3rd, Wojciech 5th (did I get that right?) Joe Mueller just out of the money in 6th or 7th but in the points. Kissena cleaned up. We pooled the cash and ended up with $145, everyone went home with $20 (entry fee paid for!) and we threw a fin over to Andy for sticking around to cheer and for his cat 5 performance. It was Andy's 10th Cat 5 race so the 4s will be getting even stronger once he joins them.

Here is my understanding of how it went down. Malcolmnson and Joe did some early attacking (as planned). It seemed like Malcolmnson was out there forever. I'm not sure exactly how it happened (John, if you know you can fill the gaps in here) but I followed Graham attacking and somehow we ended up with 2 kissenas and 2 setantas off the front. we worked together but were having a hard time getting smooth. We were off the front for awhile and riders were bridging up a few at a time. Jan followed a move up and we had a nice advantage, but the field was closing it up and a few of the guys who bridged were not really working (CRCA, Scottos).

At some point the field either fully closed the gap or was very close to closing the gap right after the finish line. I was near the front and figured I'd attack with the tail wind. (that always makes me feel so fast). Graham bridged up and we worked. Got a decent gap. He was hurting but I needed him to stay away. The gap never got big at all, it kind of yo-yo'd but the field never really gave up. There was a point when the gap got very small but I kept encouraging him and we stayed away.

I kinda screwed up the sprint but managed to pull around him at the last second for the win. I was totally over-geared and screwed up the last corner. I have to figure that out better of they are going to keep using that dumb course with the middle runway.

Behind me, Jan caused a split which allowed Kissena to grab 3rd and 5th. Great work. I'll let those dudes fill in the details.

Graham of Setanta won the first prime fair and square. I had no idea there was a second prime and he happened to roll across and win that one. I told Horrace they need lap cards at least, but also a better bell and sound system would help. You take the little things Charlie has at all his races for granted until they aren't there.

Awesome! Now lets upload some results to that spreadsheet and post it. Show those mofos we know how to get it done.
