I came in 4th with Joe right behind me.

We were very active on the front through-out the race. John broke off at the bell and stayed away for 2 laps. Me and Joe countered him once he got caught and stayed away for just about a lap. At the bell lap Mike & Graham were off the front, I moved up to the front and saw John & Joe off the front a bit. I bridged up to them and we got a very nice gap. John gave the gnarliest leadout/ break/ sprint I have ever been a part of. Not sure why the group didn't chase. We were caught at the line and I think JJ beat me at the sprint, but since he had a "mechanical" twice he didn't get any points.

I think that puts Mike in the lead with 34 points, Graham in second with 26 points, Lance in third with 24 points, & Myself in fourth with 18 points. Sweeet

Dude. Hilariously awesome. We got the win and third and fourth and sixth? And there were other teams with numbers. I think Setanta had 7 as well. Malcomson is a beast!

I did my best "chase down bridge attempts and sit on" annoying the people trying to chase. The scottos 20 meter hero guy kept trying, as did some other strong riders. Glad mike stayed away, it was close for a while!

I have to say, the last third of a lap was great. There were four of us in the lead and I was cramping so I kinda soft pedaled and Jon Joe and woijech launch off and nobody could catch them. I guess the scottos guy bridged up. But it was pretty neat to see them roll off the front when mike was guaranteed to stay away and nobody do shit.

Great racing with everyone today, I had an awesome time. I'm so happy it is spring and I can race in short sleeves. John is a monster I couldn't hold his wheel and I was drafting him on the last lap! I really had my fingers crossed that I would stay away, so Kissena would take 1, 3, 4, and 5. Would of really put icing on the cake.

Oh, and congrats to Andy! Hammering away with a solo break for the win. Was great to watch while warming up.

Hysterical. Lax enforcement of the rules is lame. If he isn't allowed to score points, he shouldn't be allowed back into the race. If he had caused the rest of the field to catch you guys 5 seconds earlier the results would have been very different.

The way it played out it still probably changed placing behind him.

Obviously, he isn't chilling in the back of the pack, he's sprinting and changing the outcome of the race. The officials should look more closely at this.

What is it, 12 laps? I think next week I'm going to have 11 mechanicals and jump back in on the last lap.

This is why I became an official. However, it is hard to be both an active racer and official at the same time.
NYC Officiating isn't the strongest and the strong officials are not liked by the racers who are used to lax enforcement of the rules.

Michael told me i had to write a dramatic race report, honestly I'm not really a specialist in the whole dramatic writing thing... but the race went something like this.

Started off with half a neutral lap to make sure everyone was familiar with the shortened course layout. I attacked on lap 2 in between turns 2 and 3, and subsequently was caught somewhere along the home stretch. Sat in for another lap, and then gave it another go half way between turns 1 and 2. I figured this one guy from NY Velocity wearing what i guess was the leader's jersey who caught me previously would counter. Little to no reaction from the group meant i was able to build up a decent gap in between turns 2 and 3, after that I buried myself on the home stretch in the wind trying to hold it. Some where around that time i heard Micheal say "stay in the drops!'... so I did, then next time around i heard him say something along the lines of "gun it while you have the tail wind, you have a good gap". The next 4 or 5 laps are a painfully blurry memory. I kind of dangled 20-30 seconds off the front for the rest of the race, and with no real organized efforts to chase me down I was able to stay clear until the end.

I just put in for my Cat. 4. upgrade, so that was kind of a nice way to finish off my Cat. 5 career!

Thanks to everyone from the club for all of the cheering and side line coaching, it really was a huge aid in fighting the urge to sit up on more than one occasion. Also thanks for throwing me a few bucks from the prize money, it was well spent on a super satisfying victory tall can and some serious french fries on the train back to Jersey!

Looking forward to tomorrow. I'm hoping to get some points to pad my lead a bit as I might have to miss a race or two in the upcoming weeks. Hope to have some company and clean up like last week again. I'm thinking same strategy - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Will I have any company?
