So there is some commercially available (but incredibly shitty) software out there that superimposes power/hr etc data onto video.

If anyone has the software engineering skilz to do their own feel free to contact me offline.
@brendan needs to upgrade just so that the road captain (me) gets to shout "Deploy the HVM!" And then when the inevitable question returns "Sir what is an HVM?" my crusty, grizzled and tattooed leftennant Owens will reply with a curled lip and southern drawl, "that there is a Highly Visible Missile son! The 'High-Viz-Missle' is what they called him at the laboratory...
This is the first time I've paid attention to these points - I feel especially dumb in light of this:

"The Sprint Competition will be for the Pro/Cat 1-2-3 and Category 3-4 races.  During each race there will be two sprints chosen at random by the promoter.    The final sprint does not count towards the sprint competition."

FBF races rain or shine: does that include thunder and lightning?

if i don't race tomorrow i won't have enough races to upgrade before sunday's harlem crit; i'll be out of town wed - sat
Lightning cancels.
Sat morning in PP has a Cat 5 race.

But I think tomorrow's weather may be fine.
Guys with experience; how late can I leave UWS tomorrow and still make a 7pm start for FBF?

From Washington Heights (right off GWB) I used to take the train to GAP and ride down to Floyd from there - took about an hour and 45 minutes, give or take.
I've left Harlem/UWS with John M. at 5:15 and got to Floyd at 6:15-6:20. Nice warmup included.
The outlook is not looking great.

You still need a warmup after that ride?!?

When I first started racing at Floyd, William and I would ride the whole way down from upper Manhattan - I think I got popped off the back my first three races.  Then I started taking the train to GAP, and voila - I was in the mix in every race and never got dropped again.  That original "warmup" ride was cooking the crap out of my legs.
the warmup included into the ride down there is what je disais.
ah, pardon - j'ai mal entendu.
10th grade French class is paying off...I sort of understand what you guys are saying!
Floyd still may be cancelled for flooding. All this rain can flood the backstretch. Charlie normally gives an announcement around 4pm as to whether the race is cancelled.
I have a 5-6pm tomorrow in midtown. Even if I could change out of the suit and rock straight out from there it would be close.

Given the rain today I'm going to bet on red tomorrow morning and ride the park. I'm still in for hotbird (which iPhone corrected to 'horrid' then 'hobbies') though.

Charlie just posted a bunch of flooding pictures to Facebook. Not looking great.

the morning light reflecting off the water almost makes floyd look quite pretty.
chance of rain has gone from 60% at 6 pm to 40% on wunderground. http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=11234&hourly=1&yday=161&weekday=Tuesday&MR=1

of course, that doesn't mean there 1) won't be thunder; 2) won't be a foot of water on the course from last night
I never thought Floyd could look so gorgeous. I'm out for tonight whether or not it's cancelled. I anticipated the flooding -- after all, there are huge puddles on the course after a string of warm, dry days -- and rode this morning instead.
People go camping at Floyd. I got invited once. I politely declined.
if it's on, i'm in...need to upgrade before sunday.
from Facebook: "IMPORTANT: As of now tonight's race is still on as scheduled. If it stays warm and sunny the course should dry out enough to have a safe race. I plan on arriving at the course around 4PM and will post another update at that time. Please share this post to spread the word."

Yeah...get ready for a dirty one, dudes.  Start practicing breathing through your nose now, because you're gonna want to keep your mouth closed tonight.
