mostly in.
Man, I'm really digging the enthusiasm here...

C'mon people, it's Tuesday night Floyd!  Yeah, sure, there's Thursday Night Floyd but that's not on Tuesday.  This is summer racing, in the heat and the wind and the muck and the puddles and the jet fuel bubbling up from god knows where, this is rocks in the face and beautiful sunsets and scrubbing filth from your body when you get home, this is permanently stained race kit, and the incredible feeling of being refreshed from a baby wipe that Phil brings.  A baby wipe for crying out loud!  And you still have time to recover for weekend racing.  You'll do more by Wednesday morning than your coworkers will do all week, all month, probably.  You'll get dropped and everyone will know it.  You'll get a flat and finally be that guy who got one, or you'll watch someone else get a flat and wonder why on earth it wasn't you.  You'll smile at the end of the race and everyone will laugh at you because you've got dirt in your teeth, and you'll laugh at them because they do too.

Your race will be fine and your story will be about the crazy ride down Flatbush.  You'll watch John take sprint after sprint and be thankful he's on the same team.  You'll have a quarter mile of open space to your left and still be getting boxed into the corners.  Brendan will put up a video of the entire race and you won't be in it at all because he always rides in the front.

Tuesday Night Floyd, man.  I get it, scheduling, work, family.  And it's going to be there all summer.  But if you're on the fence, don't be.  This is a bizarre venue and you want to be there.  Let's race.

If you are serious about learning how to really race your bike, Tuesday night Floyd is one of the best places to do it.
When do you guys eat dinner for this race, before or after?
I like to wait until I get dropped and then I help myself to a nice heaping portion of humble pie (a la mode!).
Flatbush pad thai and a large Pepsi?

@ Chi - after. I take in a snack that won't come up easily around 5PM. Pretty much the same thing I'd do at 5AM for a 6:30 AM bike race.

These racers are hard. Your dinner is likely to end up on the tarmac if you eat too much.
@Chi - if you're really hungry, eat a little bit an hour before. Otherwise take a gel and wait after the race. Your race is 30 mins (12 miles), it's not long. Aaron and I are thinking of going to Veselka after. They usually have a deal for cyclists on pierogies and beer.
What time are people leaving from GAP?
Hi all,
I was thinking on doing this race this Thursday. Can I register day of? I was planning on biking from Manhattan via Flatbush. Is this the best route? TX in advance.
@Mark Register day of. Check the weather though, if it rains a lot day of, they will likely cancel.

Btw, anyone know where to get the go/no-go information for this? NYVelocity?
Ill be at the BP Flatbush and lefferts 5:45 let me know if I should look for you coming from GAp
Thanks Hulk!!
Hard race. Thanks to Jeff A, Bruce, Phillip, Wes Mr Oakley Blades, for the team plays and blocking. 2nd and third in the green means 3 way tie for 1st, but me not in green (Sprint 2 1st place wins the tie). Got full on abdominal cramps in S2, but managed to make it into the 8 man break that formed from BH counterattack. BH and Schmalz played a good card, but Frias owned yet again.

DS'd the sprint with a 6th (sorry fellas) — the pack was close so I did one last big pull... thought I could recover for the sprint, but the legs said no. Takeaway was, a bigger field means more important to conserve energy, oh and don't help people who flat on the start line :B

P.S. Watching the kids races was awesome — Pikachu vs Zip wheeled 7 year old's. Calling all KCC families.

Looks like Johnny wrongway 6th from a break in the 3/4.

I got around 8th in the P123 field sprint.Savory won.

Big props to vlad for dragging back a big breakaway group with 1/2 a lap to go. That helped.
The Schmalz perspective, a tad more poetic: "Punching the baby in the face at the christening"

He's right about Sam, it was weird though he was there and then I thought he'd had mechanical, and then he was right there. He also has a new Son of Sam teammate who can crush it.
Awesome job guys. Top ten in the field sprint ain't too shabby make!

More like a drag race.

P123: 52 starters, 31 finishers. When 40% of the field gets dropped in a 53 minute race on a non-technical course, you know it's a good one.

ummm, these guys are racing on an airport that is OPEN to planes landing between races. WTF????

Chapeau, lads.  Well played.
Tonight's race is cancelled. A little part of me just died.
Another lonely night in the wind tunnel for Vlad.

In the 3/4's I'd like to grab the green jersey tonight, it's a three way tie for first. Frias's team has Jesus-won every Cat 5 race he's entered Martinez in green, Frias in yellow.

Expect the usual breakaway attempts right after S2 and BH to be wanting revenge on Frias. I won't be attacking unless I think I can get a prime from a break.

Also, gauging interest in a how to FBF clinic, maybe some sprint tips as well.
@John I am *IN* baby.  Let's figure out how I can best help out - I'm your Huckleberry...
