Nice work shopping the prime @SebastianVidal, you podium'd right there.

Have to ask though: why no team goals? Kissena has a long history looking sharp on strategy at Floyd #teamsport
We did come in to this race with a pretty clear hierarchy.

Sebastian is the stronger rider and leader, and we were there to support him.

There were a few bits we could have adjusted, and chatted about it after the race (like riding inside vs. outside on turn one, etc, etc...) And, totally, we could have been a bit more cohesive -- As Sebastian and I ride and race more together, that will come.

Goals were obvious, supporting Sebastian, go for a prime, and be on the front end of any worthy move or splits. Which we mostly did. For me personally, it was the first time in FBF in almost a decade, so finish with the rubber side down. All basic, almost tacit stuff. All of this was discussed while we waited to line up.
I'll be at FBF putting out watts tomorrow night, in case anyone else is considering...
@Eloy @SebastianVidal @GregStreiff Glad to hear you had a plan, although on the line isn't the best time to decide team tactics, as everyone is within earshot. I remember a 123 race in PP and Foundation guy says to his teammate, "we're chasing everything down for the lead-out train", made our race a lot easier. It's useful to get into habit of taking time to roll around for a couple of warm-up laps—discuss strategy and tactics for the conditions, identify course hazards and practice best line thru corners (huge at Floyd) discuss individual goals, who's captain, who has strongest team/numbers, who are the danger-men/favorites to podium, make sure everyone comes away with a clear understanding of their roll and responsibility and contingency plans.

In that race, having Sebastian shop some sprints made total sense, you could have contemplated having someone launching him or be on his wheel to leave a gap at the right moment.

It's also super useful to regroup afterwards and measure how well you worked as a team, talk about the good, the bad and the interesting: how well did you communicate during race? How was the riding in formation? Moving forwards, getting sprinter to the front? Learning for next time.

Side note: No#1 rookie Floyd team move is to lose track of teammates and end up chasing down a break with your teammate in it (made a little harder these days with the KCC orange POCs). No#2 Missing the boat: letting the danger-men break go, forcing the team to burn all its matches in the last four without making the catch (or worse, only two KCCs chase their guts out while a couple sit down the back oblivious).
All great tips. All things we did. Love you, Johnny, next time, come race with us.
Just trying to help keep eyes on fries Eloy. Re racing, let's see, it's a long season.

Speaking of fries, I'm going to race FBF tomorrow night if anyone is interested in joining. Last Tuesday I lost my man card at FBF and I'm gonna keep showing up until I get it back.

seeya there, legs are feeling pretty nice today
Race cancelled tonight. Ugh!

Turning back on Flatbush now.
super bummed the race was canceled tonight.
tonight was supposed to be a breakout performance.
Anyone headed out tonight?
I know its only Friday, and even though I am racing Sunday, I am also going to race Floyd on Tuesday. Who else has been going out there on Tuesdays?
Tuesdays is fun, if you love hr at over 190bpm and NP higher than park races.. but seriously, I love that course (and the camaraderie) and I plan on being there next Tuesday.
I'll be there next Tuesday!

I've been going to Floyd Tuesdays for the past ~6 weeks and I can say with no reservations they are my favorite races in NYC. The vibe is great, the racing is relentless, and the course is the perfect bike racing classroom.
Will be there. Agree with others. Fantastic race.
I'm going to try to break the 2017 FBF seal this Tuesday. If there's wind let's cut it up like a ¥50 million bluefin tuna. If there isn't we'll make like Yan and cook the sprint.

Yacks can be enticed

Yes yessssss
Fun times last night. My first evening at Floyd this season and no surprise a new ten minute power record to show for it* :) Smaller field about 20 riders with plenty of attacks from a team whose name I'm now blanking on. Velo something :)

Heads up that next week is the last in the Thursday series and Horace is starting at 5:40 so there's time for awards. Also, bring deet.

* since I'm over the hill this is obviously a 2017 record :)
I forgot I have a work function tomorrow night. So I won't be racing FBF tomorrow.
I'll be at the next one for sure. Good luck to all the racers.
Just kidding. Work exploded in the last hour. I might get down there to watch, will be a game time decision.
It's perfect racing weather. Anyone leaving from gap?
I'll be doing my usual Tuesday evening warm up / time trial so no GAP - seeya at Floyd
Here. There's like 26 Jordan homies.

sounds rowdy. RACE REPORT!
I made two moves. One break with four to go, on with 500m to go. Both failed. But it was super motivating how solid Sebastian (flatted with 1.5 to go), Greg D., and Phil were. We can get money with that crew every week with a bit of better luck. Add in Greg S. and a Yack or two and it is our race. Y'all should get in on it. Now's the time!

Nothing better than a bunch of Kissena's dominating a local race.
I will be there next week.
Thanks for the race report @Jeffrey White and nice work out there everyone. Sorry about the flat @SebastianVidal!
I'm always up for closing a gap, bringing a break back (unless we're in it), or causing a split any time.

Also, since we always get neutralized on the third lap, I wonder if there's any wisdom to racing hard the first three laps. Unless you're in a break half a lap up (and maybe miss getting neutralized with the field), you'll get slowed down anyway.
Let's win one of these!

Regarding getting neutralized: there is no point in riding hard for the purpose of getting into a break before we get overtaken. I haven't seen that work once this summer, and people try every week. It's useful as a warmup for when the real race begins, since the attacks are (usually) pretty constant after that.

Yesterday was kind of weird. The field was very motivated to chase down any break attempts, at which point everyone would sit up and nobody would counter. I was fine with this since I was hoping for a field sprint, but it was weird to see that pretty much the entire field was on the same page.

Pretty disappointed about flatting out - for once it felt like the Floyd stars were aligning: I felt great, had strong teammates in the field, and there was no break. Oh well! Still had a great time. These races are getting "easier" each week, I'm starting to pick up on how to play the wind and how to judge whether an effort is worthwhile or not. Really hoping I can get a result here before the end of the summer.
The field was very motivated to chase down any break attempts -

Hardly any wind last night.

How many more races left in this series?
It would only be worth attacking before neutralization if there is a really stiff wind. In that case, you could get in a real split. If there is a real split, I don't think they'll neutralize it. I think the passing field will just ride around it. I could be mistaken about that.
