Rockleigh Crit - Thursday Night Race series

A rude chap had words with me during/post race last week. Looking to show him my wheels.

That's the stuff, Mattie!  Leave him staring in the final sprint at your fine-toned "eschelon".
Yeah that didn't work. I was on Andy's wheel with 2 to go when his front wheel got swept and we went bouncing down the road at 30mph or so. We both bled good, but no broken bones or worse. He smoked his right shifter, I killed my frame, helmet and saddle. I took a wheel to the ribs which doesn't feel nice. 1 more week of session I, and then I'm done and putting in for my upgrade.

god damn that honks

get the hell out of the 4's - it is a horror show

i have a 56cm 853 w/ 10 speed ultegra, if you need a loaner
Damn that sucks. Good thing it wasn't your serrota? Hope you both heal up quick
Sorry about that Mattie.  Ribs take a while to feel better as I'm sure you know.
Heal up soon. 56cm caad 9 over here for loaner duties if you are interested.
Yeah...

that sucked.

However... two positives, the loud SOB who was being a dick to Mattie last week got relegated for being all over the place during the sprint... and I walked away with 10 bucks for a prime. Both of which some what off set the fact that i was covered in road rash and my bike was thrashed.
This Thursday, July 12, I'll be racing the 6pm event. I expect maybe Mattie and a few others may show?
I am planning on racing this tomorrow

yep, we wrapped up series I last week, got 6th in the overall after crashing out 2 weeks ago. My upgrade is pending so I'll be in the B race one more week. I got points so I'm just looking to attack the shit out of everyone and everything over and over.
Pulled down 3rd, coworker won again after shedding all his breakmates and rolling around solo for probably a third of the race. Clean field sprint, just missed the guy who won overall last series and jumped long.

Mattie

Sweet rock'n'roll tongue there, setting up for the last corner. I also like the sunlight on the super deep section rims.
I'll keep it short. No great result for me in the A race, but I was aggressive, solo bridged by attacking into a headwind to some promising moves. The best of which was a small group of 3 that I got up to before getting dropped after a hard pull from former JP Partland sparing partner, Mark Alden pulled through with monster watts. 2.5 laps just off the back of  that chase, and well in front of the field, I finally gave up the ghost and let the borg reabsorb me. Chased down some end of the race bullshit and made myself very, very tired. Perfect training race night. Well, if I could have stuck with the "Mark Alden Group" I would have been sprinting for 10th or so place (Alden got 11th).

Happy to feel like maybe the form is starting to creep back into my legs? Who knows.
Nice Mattie.  Beats crashing, no?

Dan, are you hitting on Mattie? I think he has a girlfriend. Harhar.
@Marc

if I was going to hit on anybody it would be you, with the beard that makes Yetis jealous.
So I may be in Rockland tomorrow morning to bring my Aunt home, I was thinking about sticking around to race Rockleigh after work (since I telecommute) .

a) Any Ks gonna go this week (since it is also the day of Trimble's race to the sun thing a bunch of us seem to be going to)  ?

b) @Mattie Davitt - any good suggestions for a place to park myself with wifi for a couple of hours ? Bunbury?
Yeah, bunbury's is good for wifi in town. I will not be doing rockleigh tomorrow, I'm doing the Trimble thing. I'm pre-regged for the series, so I can ask for the organizers to transfer my spot to you tomorrow for free if you want.
Nahh - I'll pay my $$ for a weeknight training race, no biggie. Thanks though
Providing Sarah hasn't gone into labor, I'll be out racing at Rockleigh on 7/19 too. Bummed that some mysterious event called "The Trimble Thing" is preventing me from working hard to get Mattie some "A" race points.
My pre reg is use it or lose it, so I'll email them and tell them whichever Kissena duder asks for it races for free. They're usually good like that.
the not so mysterious Trimble Thing

The "Race Against The Sun" is an improtu race based off my favorite training ride. The idea is to leave NYC at 6pm with just enough daylight to make it to Beacon, NY by sunset. The challenge is that if you don't ride fast enough you are stuck out on pitch black roads resulting in a nerve wracking crawl to the nearest train station. Throughout the duration of the ride you will see the sun slowly lower itself towards the horizon. The sun waits for no one.
Marc in the A race, Todd in the B. Nosson Spielberg (man that dude is tall) spotted running in a tri-skin-suit over the GWB towards Jersey on my way back from Rockleigh.

Didn't get to see Todd race. My race was boring-snoring. Not enough snap in my legs tonight. A lot of strung out bits. Small 30 rider-ish field wasn't letting anything getting away. I made one failed bridge-up attempt about 30 minutes in. The most entertaining part of my race was trying to avoid a grey haired, mis-matched tops and bottoms (ill-fitting, both) rider who had full-on moto-cross elbow pads and hip pads inserted into his shorts. As I said to another dude at the start line, "I wonder what race he's here for..."

Due to weather, Rockleigh canceled tonight 7/26.

Assuming I don't get hosed at work, I'll be in the 123.
Holy crap the 123s are so much faster. Hurt hurt hurt. Made the what was the winning break which went 3 laps in. Got ejected after a bit. 10th overall, 3rd in the field sprint. My 1m power keeps me in the game, but I don't have the threshold when they REALLY whip it.
