Man, if Manhattan Kissenas came, what's my excuse? Actually, I had an obligation in Manhattan... Sorry I missed it, looks fun. I can hardly recognize you without kits.Â
First Thursday for July (July, can you believe it!) falls on July 4th this year. The point of the social is to hang out with teammates outside of the regular rides, training and racing, but given the upcoming holiday and the fact that many of you will have evening plans, I'm taking this back to our club's roots and plan on riding. I see there's a Bear Mountain ride gaining momentum and I'm hoping we can all head out together, though I won't be going that far, probably turning at Alpine.
I'm flexible on time, but planning 8am BB, 9am GWB.
Because last Thursday was a holiday, there was a ride instead of a social, and I had a summer cold, we're going to accept this TUE I've filled out to accommodate my exemption and set up a social this week.Â
Thursday, 7/11/19, 6-8pm, Lavender Lake, 383 Carroll St.
If you're new to the team, please stop by to say hello, get a drink or some food and hang out for a bit to talk about how long it takes you to wrap bar tape. If you're an experienced Kissena, come on by, I miss you.
A fun night, as always. Thanks, everyone, for coming out. It was loud at the Lake, some kind of party going on in the back, but we managed to discuss bike parts and racing without interruption.
I definitely don't want to sit outside anymore. These heat waves have disabused me of the notion that summer evenings in the 80s are glorious. You know, those thoughts I have in February when it's dark before I get home from a long ride, I can't feel my fingers or toes, and simply washing my hands burns my skin, and I dream of long warm days that last forever.
But yeah, enough with the heat already.
Let's sit indoors at 61 Local and talk about record heat and ice storms during the Tour, commuting by bike, and how someone carrying coffee always has the right of way because, you know, coffee.
As it is heading into the tail end of the road season (cross is coming?), would anyone be interested in getting together on the evening of the 17th August to celebrate/commiserate on our season?
Initial idea would be to make this somewhere in the LES which serves beer and food (non alcoholic drinks also available) such as:
@RichFreeman "Post L&C" is vague. We will obviously discuss times post race tomorrow. That said - Let's try to get a more concrete time on the thread for those that will not be in attendance in the AM, but are interested in booze and camaraderie  Â
