Quick RR. I didn't see C5—Harry? C4 15 riders. Our plan was Yaks to lead me out. But on the road it was so paaaainfully slow that Joji, Eric, Yaks and myself took turns attacking and countering. Despite some promising moves, we couldn't quite connect the dots (was fun though!). Eric was away laps, I think Yaks was up the road more than in the bunch. Vlad, who is points leader (I can hear Adam already) was chasing anything Kissena. It appears that I'm the only obstacle between him and that giant condo-of-gold-chrome series trophy. Foundation rider (Nathan) and another dude got away with three to go. Teany didn't man-up to help with the chase; I thought they were channeling one of Moby's four chord masterpieces, but it turns out one of their riders flatted, so there. We kept the break on a leash, but it was one of those stupid dog leashes with too much line. Yaks made a humungous pull on the last lap and got within distance. Eric positioned Joji who put the hammer down... but couldn't quite get there and by that time I was in the red too. Great fun though, thanks for coming out! Last race next week.
Props to the Mexico rider who crashed, rejoined and sprinted me into 6th.
@ Stéphane, NZ prevailed over France, but only 8 to 7 and probably the tensist match ever. Period.
"The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers." ―Princess Leia to Grand Moff Tarki Had I heeded Leia's wisdom I would not have launched a thousand fruitless attacks. The field was small and the wind was low. Nobody wanted to animate and when a rider clipped my rear wheel and stacked it hard, I decided to part ways with the field early and often. Eric was off quite a bit too. At one point I bridged across and tried to lend him some watts but fizzled. Kissena was in everything early, which set the stage for the late cheeky move sans Kissena. Once the break was gone, no other team would chase. I know John and Joji were trying late to get it back and that was not a good position as they would be cooked for the sprint. It was my 1st time on the shortened course and that hurt us in the end as I launched a big effort to cut the gap down to about 8 seconds after the 1st turn on the last lap. It was too late...on the old course that break would have been caught on the back stretch...then again no other rider or team seemed interested in doing any work. The onis was on Kissena and we burnt our matches. John, I would have had a nice leadout for you had I not "tightened my grip" with all those attacks...Yack-Tarkin-Fu
That was a fun race, the most fun I've had this year with the exception of the club championship. I'm finally coming into a bit of form. Racing without that is no fun. Still not ideal form, but form enough that I thought that with the joint forces of Joji and Yack-fu we could definitely do something for John. As John and Chris reported, that field didn't want to do anything. All my attacks were just meant to tire people out. I had the crashed Mexico guy with me for a while. I don't think he speaks English cause at one point I shouted to him "If you don't come through I'm sitting up" and got zero response. After what seemed like an awful long period of 19mph dawdling he did come through and started pulling. This was when Chris came along with a huge surge that I was surprised brought out no one from the field. After another lap of this I was alone again. After a couple corners I knew I was in trouble (what the hell was I doing off the front for so long without enough form to truly make it happen?) and the guy who ended up winning bridged up. I told him I was pretty much done for and he said "that's fine, just do what you can". I saw there were 4 laps to go and thought no way, I need to save what I can and help get John up here cause this looks dangerous. I knew I couldn't stay with him. Unfortunately the field was too far back. Took a long time for them to reel me in. Then, what happens? The field sits on my wheel. Again, I'm pretty much done at this point, so after a half lap I swing wide and say "If you guys want anything from this race you gotta chase. Two places are clearly up the road!" Any response from TEANY? No. I found Joji, asked him if he was feeling well enough to do something at the front, and pulled him up there. Joji put in a massive effort which popped me off the back. That was all I had. Sorry I didn't have anything to help for that final dig Chris put in that should have put John in position to take the win. Great fun, John we'll do better for you next week!
I was also disappointed that no one in other teams worked together and threw away the chance to catch up those 2. If there's such a peloton in the field next time, we'd better to go for breakaway. anyway, here's the photo before start.
drats! this weather...i love it, but dont want races to be cancelled(ANNOYING!), would love a race w/ 2-4"of snow, 1" slush below, and a 28mph gusting winds, harsh conditions may be my best/only chance to put the hurt into nemesis sammy T. who is 1st in standings 4pts ahead of me in series.
Forecast (along with current conditions) look pretty crappy. Is this thing happening? Not feeling quite motivated enough for riding in sub 40 degree temps with mega wind at fbf.
It lives! Starting the ball rolling early on the last race of the year this Sunday at FBF. Forecast is for not rain or snow. C'mon! http://wsunited.org/ Food afterward I believe.
Oh my god clean bathrooms and dougnuts!....I am going to make every attempt to be there. John this time, I'll be your yo-yo. Just tell me what to do and where to be during the race. Yacks
