We had 8 prospects (out of 13 RSVPs), and def lots of potential. Only two flats (one was a false alarm) and one mechanical

I need some volunteers to lead this ride as I am preoccupied with Armory week. I'll handle all logistics – all you have to do is show up, take role call from the list I send you, and lead the group to the destination of your choosing.

Weather is looking like 22F at 9am on Saturday, feels like 9 with a wind of 16mph.
That sounds miserable. I'm on the trainer.
May want to cancel the ride. I'd like them to think we're a reasonable team. I rode in a new member ride in the park in very cold temps one time when a kid showed up without gloves. When we don't know riders' abilities to prepare for extreme temps, it's best to play it safe. If they think they have something to prove, it may lead to bad judgement.

^ Agree with Bruce, I doubt most would own sufficient kit to manage temps in the teens.

Whenever I'm riding with inexperienced riders I treat the ride as if I was a guide again.
- extra pair of gloves, thermal hat, extra gillet
- extra layers for me in case I need to share some
- extra tubes, extra C02
- extra snickers bar, water
- extra observant to see when people are getting tired/cold/hungry and therefore clumsy
- extra willing to cut the ride short or change course
