Easy for Sean to say ;)
This one will be on my schedule. Looking forward to it.

Glad to hear folks are psyched about this classic crit course. Give yourself the best chance to succeed by making sure the Memorial Day Weekend New Jersey crits are on your calendar too. They should be happening the week or so before the NYS champs.
BUMP!

This SUNDAY is the NY State Crit Championships.  It's on this classic course in White Plains.  It's about 20 miles from my door, but it's just as easy to ride to Grand Central and take Metro North.

so far, only three Kissenas are registered.  Where are the rest of you?  Sean?  Defend your victory from last year?  Vlad?  We had some fun in the pro/am, no?  Whitey?  This should be a good course for you.

Registration closes Friday.
So, I don't think I can make it up in time for the Cat 5 race (starts at 0740), however, with my Britih Cycling licence I think I could easily get away with signing up for and riding in the Cat 4 race. Thoughts? Have we got much of a Cat 4 contingent?
Alas, one of my goals that I can not meet this year.  Maybe next year...

Seriously, this is a really really really really excellent race, one that is very conducive to teamwork.
I really want to do this but lightning and heavy rain in the forecast is why I am yet to register

@JamesShaw they will almost certainly check your license and I'm sure it needs to be USAC. As much as I would love some help if I do end up racing I can't say that I think trying to sneak into the CAT4 race is a good idea.

As well, many races check your license before you even get there. Last year I signed up for Capital Region when I was still a 5 planning to upgrade the week before and they caught it and e-mailed me before the race to make sure I had enough races and was going to upgrade. Since it is the NYS championship I would assume they would be more diligent than usual.
@SeanMiles Thanks for the heads up - until now my BC licence has been accepted without question and as I don't have a USAC licence I'm not sure they can check the number of races I've done - not that I'm looking to be overtly dishonest. It also says 4th Cat on my licence... I'll keep thinking about it. A rainy crit sounds.....treacherous.
Remember back in the good old days when the USAC changed the Cat 4 upgrade rules because there were SO many racers?

To all prior and current registered racers:

We are very close to a decision on whether or not to cancel the race and we are posting this message in a last ditch effort to see if we can save this year's event. Bottom line, if we do not have registration greater than 250 (and really more closer to 275) by late this afternoon, the race will be cancelled. Unfortunately, we must notify the City by close of business today despite registration closing tomorrow.

For various reasons, our registration numbers are well behind prior years' numbers.  Without additional, last-minute sponsorship or an increase in registration numbers as noted above, the financial deficit is too large for the race organizers to handle.

We have worked very hard not to reach this point, but unfortunately too many factors have worked against us this year.

Please share this message with your team members and other outlets you deem appropriate.

Thank you.

I'm reg'd for the 4 and 3/4 races. Hope to see some teammates there!
Wish I could go.

Family stuff makes it impossible.

It's a good crit course, short, with a hill.

And you can either ride there or take the train there.  Last year, it rained, so I took the train there and rode home.
If your racing age is 35 or above, you are CAT 4, and a man, you can race 3 times on Sunday.
I'm reg'd as well!
NY State Champion.

Nicely done Ulrike!

SO MUCH AWESOME!
