"found positive for the anti-estrogen drug raloxifene, four Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARM), ostarine, RAD140, LGD4033 and andarine, ibutamoren (a growth hormone-like factor), and GW1516 sulfone (the 'exercise in a pill' drug)."

WTF that's just disgusting, putting all that stuff in your body?
what's amazing is that he didn't include EPO in that mix.

He was busted for EPO before.

agreed, how is EPO not on the list?
he even tested positive for an "anti-estrogen drug"?
I guess that's a doper's insurance policy...abuse all those other drugs to the max and still stay all man.

But somethig tells me it doesn't work that way. Who knows.
What a slime ball.

It turns out Leogrande is claiming he took a 'male enhancement' supplement from a friend who said it was legit.

Of course, he's also pretending that he only tested positive for a single banned substance.

some gems from the article:

“I know nothing about SARMs or peptides or anything like that,” he said at one point.

At another: “I guess I slightly cringe because I would never even know where to get these things or how to obtain these things.”

“When I hear SARMs or RAD or whatever — what is RAD? GW — what?” he asked at yet another.

He said time and again that he had been given a dropper: “Shame on me for believing a friend.”

Just wanted to point out that the Road Results prediction for the first L&C race was off.  They had Palo Samko as the favored to win in cat 4, but he came in 11th.

I have to admit that I'm surprised at his placing in the Cat 4 race, since he has 98 upgrade points.

So I'm guessing the concept of a forced upgrade is different than actually forcing someone to upgrade, either through USAC or NYSBRA?

This seemed the appropriate discussion.  Not exactly doping, but local sandbagging.
Call or email your local USAC upgrade person and get him booted to the 3's. Also tell Charlie.
Woops, someone got a forced upgrade.

Palo Samko   • Racing Age: 43 • Category: 3

What a jerk.
is sandbagging akin to doping?
I think we should have a "Local Sandbagger' forum topic

Area Jerks?

Wow, this guy gives masters dopers a bad name. The list of what he didn't take might actually be longer than what he was on.

This guy takes "go big or go home" to a new level...
"Aivazian, who races mainly downhill and Enduro mountain bike events..."

You know it's funny, I never think of doping outside of road and road adjacent, skinny tire racing (e.g. track, cross). I guess even the crunchy MTB world has similar issues.
he’s going down hill , even I can do that 😂
I do want to account for translations, non-native speakers, British spellings, etc, but this is an article written in English and honestly, what are they teaching kids these days?
"on the day before the arbitration hearing in his case was to begin."
in his case was to begin?  C'mon.
"to an USADA press release."
Help me out on this.  Is this British usage?  I don't know.  Say it out loud YouEssEhDeeEh.  Doesn't get "an".  But I won't put my hands up if you want to fight me on this one, though it stands out.
"However, after investigating further and reviewing additional materials, which USADA stated that it received this January and February, it learned that Aivazian possessed and used and/or attempted to use five additional prohibited substances."
Why, yes, I will have some soup with my word salad.
The sentence appears to have the subject "it".
However, the USADA investigated and reviewed additional materials received in January and February, and learned that Aivazian possessed and used, or attempted to use, five additional prohibited substances.
Not so hard, right?
"An essential part of an effective of an anti-doping program"
I doubt that was the direct quote from Tygart and if it was, it warrants a [sic] inside it.  And we should have AN USADA rep look over that quote.
Hehe.  Doping, am I right?
Yeah, I'm bored.
Thanks @Bruce van-Schalkwyk that was a good chuckle. And yeah; seriously, for downhill?
Reading those details, I can't help but feel the guy was taking that long list of banned substances because he's into the 'lifestyle' of looking young or 'life-extension' scene.

If we found a picture of the guy, I'd wager he's dying his hair and appears to be taking advantage of tanning beds.

As much as I hate dopers, it feels a bit more deranged when people chasing lost youth this way.

He does some nice tile work
I don't have any problems with people styling themselves however they want to look and feel the way they prefer, but taking cocktails of chemicals and drugs to stay "young" definitely points to deeper issues.

Also obligatory:

Where'd this guy go wrong, we all know the preferred drugs for Enduro events are THC and beer

Putting the following statement here as a take on doping when it's not for racing.  It's a friend's post to the image referenced above on FB.  (I've known the guy since he started in the sport)

"We each make our own decisions and live with them. As an ex-racer who started in the early 90's in the NY area, I have seen this sport go through a lot but at the end, racing is about winning and people will do what they think is ok to win. FWIW, I was concerned about the amount of caffeine in my gels. Then I stopped racing, T levels dropped and Dr suggested shots and I figured, why not. I still rode daily and group rides (san power meter etc) but I knew that these shots made a big difference even at my age or especially at my age (60) - it seemed like I could just ride longer at a pace that I did when I was 35. I stopped with the shots for a number of reasons; inconvenience, cost, and I just didn't want to depend on something that I inject to make me feel "better". Bottom line, we all need to ask ourselves "why" and accept the fact there are rules. As a racer, it pissed me off knowing that there were cheats, now I just feel sorry for those if they do it to "win" a sprint to the town sign."
If a Dr. recommends for actual legit health reasons, I am not sure that's doping, altho it can clearly be "I was feeling better than when 35" -- as you know, that's the exact reason why therapeutic use exemptions (TUE) exist.

If not racing, then this particular case seems very benign, the testorone was to help him feel better, which ideally touches all aspects in life, including their riding.

There are very clear cases when the use of drugs is truly doping, and obviously cheating.

In 2025 we find tons of people that want to live in a world that is black and white, but it doesn't matter how unconfortable it makes us, the world is full of gray. We decide what's right and wrong.

All that said: DOPERS SUCK.
Not related , but sort of related ,
I just finished an Excellent book,The Emperor , The Beast & The Milkman, essentially an amusing travelogue through a season at the Flemish spring classics ,
I learnt that Edwig Van Hooydonck retired at 27 , because all the guys he was smashing his entire career were starting to use EPO and he refused to dope , A lot to admire about him , not just his 3/4 length shorts

When your bibs are 3/4 length... are they long shorts or short tights?

Masters are a tough category; older, driven to stay healthy there are many who are deep into the anti-aging industry which obviously includes hormone supplementation.

Forced to choose I suspect most masters would choose health over the ability to race; not a great outcome for USAC, where the bulk of the membership is masters athletes.
