Jes Shuford.  She's pretty fantastic.  Her clientele (last we talked) consisted largely of pro dancers, and she helps them to recover/repair/excell, etc., so she know the score.  She had no problem addressing my cycling specific issues.  917-751-8995.

Derek, et al. I just spent time with my cross calendar and thought I'd share some of the holes I've filled in Derek's above listed schedule; also alternatives for those not flying off to Oregon for costume races ;-)

Sept 29/30 Gloucester Gran Prix (most categories filled at this point though)

Oct 13/14 Uncle Sam Cross GP, Troy NY (smaller New York state races, but not too far from NYC, Albany basically)

Oct 20/21...Downeast CX, New Gloucester, ME or maybe Marty Cross Chester, NJ

Oct 27...?
Oct 28...HPCX (no Beacon this year :-( )

If any of you have additional thoughts, suggestions for awesome smaller races, that would be much appreciated.

Aly, I'd say you shouldn't be scared, but Myles typically designs the Staten Island course. [cue evil laughter]

Related, Myles, do you think you could set up a longer start before the first "hole shot?" I feel like there's only about 75 meters of wide open before the first crash/clog/mayhem enducing turn on that course in the past.

Joshua, thanks for the heads up about "Independence Cross." I guess they are part races who fell victim to the enforcement of UCI series rules this year. Although it doesn't explain why they changed their name. I mean, I really like their course and would have had no idea that this was the same race. Worse yet, since I don't regularly frequent the New Jersey bike racing website, and their race is not on bike reg, I had no idea there was a race. Thank goodness our team got up our race on bikereg.

Joaquin, Northampton's registration, according to Bikereg, opens on the 24th. It's a popular race, so good to register early, but they do call-ups by crossresults rankings, so no need to rush to register early for THAT particular reason. FYI, for anyone considering this race, especially in the Cat 4s, the last couple of years, it's been in the 20s at the start of the day. Sunny, so the open fields become a slick layer of slippery shit on top of frozen shit. And the "up-top" section is twisty turny through the woods with LOTS of roots. Practice practice practice those rooty sections in your neighborhood.

Oh, yes folks, it's back, the Kissena hot list based on crossresultsrankings...there's some crossover from 2011 results right now, so don't get your nasty double-trouble extra large orange dimpled diaper up the dumper in a bunch if you see someone ranked above you with whom you are sure you can kick their tardy (used literally here...as in "slow" and/or "late") asses.

(where the word on the street is our ruthless president ran Joe into a thorn covered pothole he had set up as a trap before the race. Otherwise Joe is supreme commander. And much like Contadork, Joe will always be club champ IN MY MIND).

In other CX news, this is a shout-out for a little help. After having a conversation with one of the clubs avid crossers and more avid family men, he reports that many of the "big" cross races are just too far for bringing the whole family.

Todd is going to reach out to the New Jersey Bike Racing group to find out whats-what when it comes to the New Jersey cup races, many of which are NOT yet on bikereg.

I think JP, also is friendly enough with Jersey Boy and Van Dessel Master's stud Bill Elliston, to get his take on which smaller Jersey events are worth the drive. JP could you do a little outreach here for the many folks who can't make trips longer than 2 or so hours from NYC?

If you family men are feeling like a longer trip, I will say that the Northampton races take place in Look Park, which, in the warmer months is packed full of activities like mini-golf and bumper boats...but even when it's chilly, there is at least one playground just across the course's starting area.

There was (is?) a nice Jersey race called the "Hillbilly Hustle" the past few years and I don't know if it's happening this year, but if it is, I think it's worth a trip to Jersey country.

Below are tentative dates for the NJ series Marc mentioned.  The website can be found here http://www.njbikeracing.com/cross-schedule.html.  So far, except for today's Westwood Velo race, nothing is listed on bikereg.  I've asked one of the promoters to confirm that the dates will go forward as planned, and I will pass along whatever I hear.

I too enjoy the NJ races - nice vibe, close to home, good times.  I can't wait for Todd's report back.

Just heard back.  These dates are a go.  I think all of these races, except for Independence Cross (Beacon), are within a two hour drive.  Also, don't forget about Horseshoe Scramble on 12/2, which is less than an hour away. 

One more thing though. I heard that something funny will be happening with the rules of physics on 11/18.  I'm not sure exactly what will happen, but, whatever it is, it will make it impossible for KCC members to get to the 11/18 race in Augusta.  So don't even try to go.  Nobody, however, will be prevented from getting to Eisenhower Park and the Supercross Cup.   

Uhm, what is "Cinnabon of Death?" Sounds both Sumerian and tastey.

Yeah...New England Races are lined up by crossresults...which makes me SMILE. Of course, I've got a few weekends between now and then to screw up my current ranking. yikes.
