Sandbox - Trash Talk, Tall Tales & Flotsam... It's a mess in here!

Thanks, Nathanial.  Do you remember roughly how much time it took to walk to the halfway point?  My girlfriend is currently in PT for cartilage inflammation and IT band issues in one knee, but she might be able to handle at least that much hiking by July.  And Patrick, if you're listening, I would love to talk to you about the cable car.

Let's definetely be in contact about meeting up in July.  The GF and I already have flights booked (starting earlier in the week in Paris and working south from there).  It would be great to gather a KCC contingent.

Hey, Joaquin
I think we spent around an hour to an hour and a half walking up. It was a real procession of humanity. My wife likened it to when Pope John Paul visited her native Croatia - the positive vibe, the vast sea of humanity. Except maybe there was no guy from L.A. in a mankini dressed as a Mexican wrestler in Croatia. And then waiting there was a very cool experience. The crowds entertain until the caravan comes by to entertain, and then the suspenseful wait for the peloton who, shattered, come by in small groups. And expect to walk back down. You may be able to hitch a ride, but don't count on it.
A KCC contingent would be very cool! Keep me posted on your progress. And if I do anything on my end, I'll let you know.
Nathaniel

...and if you guys will be south first, my wife and I will be in Marseille for stage 5!
Underwater spinning. Think it could get me a sprint?

"WATER IS LIFE. The human body contains about 60% of water. Water is a natural and organic element. When you cycle in the water, you find yourself. You go back to the origin. Aquacycling is a work-out for your body + your mind. Try it and you will feel blissfully energized… Not only do you shape your body in a much more efficient way than on land but you also protect your health, your bone structure, your joints, your muscles. Scientific studies shows that exercising in water provides numerous benefits to both health and body."

Add one of these, and you can have an aqua-triathlon.  Getcha compression gear out!  Brendan, technically, this means that you will never have to stop peeing.

Hey, guys. I'll be in town between June 17th-21st. Does anybody have a bed/sofa that I can crash on while visiting? I promise to bring a gift of Swiss chocolate as thanks.

Hey, watching the Tour of California...I notice that Kelly Benefits/Optum Pro Cycling team has our same day-glo orange helmets!

How strong is Jens Voigt? Well, apparently strong enough that he has no problem riding to the front of a field that is strung out single file by Cannondale, to unload a jersey full of bottles to his teammates. Impressive to say the least!

The search function on this forum sucks. Is there some kind of plugin we could get that would allow for an 'advanced' search with fields of our choosing. And I can't even figure out how to peruse the list of users.
Sphinx search has been installed.
There is a bike to work party and an "after party" sponsored by Giro and their new Road clothing line next door to my home. You can rsvp for the after party here. I live next door so will be there. For organization I put in Kissena.
How come whenever I try to paste an image into the body of a message I get an error message about it being to many characters? This happens if I try to paste it OR if I try to add it add a link. What is the secret?

David, you cannot cut & paste (unfortunately) there are two ways of inserting images:

1) click on the image button at the top right of the text box and put in the url of the image you want.  You can usually get the url by right-clicking the image
2) use the "attach a file" link below the text box

In the case of the two examples I'm about to post, since these images aren't on the web somewhere, I'll just attach files... you'll have to click each to enlarge & see what I'm talking about

I personally find the "most trustworthy" data most informative.

That's good stuff. I find it fascinating that the Poles find Germany simultaneously Most and Least Trustworthy. Maybe it is 1939 vs recent history.
i also like how the french voted themselves both least and most arrogant.
My read on this is that of all the traits - people value compassion the highest - and thus assign themselves the lead role.

Perhaps there is hope for humanity after all.
One of my favorite jokes:
"European version of Heaven and Hell"

In Heaven . . .
British are the police
Swiss run the trains
Germans are the mechanics
Italians are the cooks
French are the lovers . . .

lol @ France voting France the most arrogant - I can testify to this.
In Hell . . .
Italians run the trains
British are the cooks
French are the mechanics
Swiss are the lovers
and, the Germans are the police . . .

Hey Public Service Announcement for all you car-less folks looking to get out of town for Memorial Day Weekend. Rental cars get really expensive and really GONE really quick. Reserve your car now.

i am almost certain that specialized will offer me a similar gift when i achieve the equally lofty achievement of completing 10 cat-5 races.
More ridiculous data: geotagged tweets containing racist, homophobic, and anti-disability (Really? Does "retard" count?) made into a Google heatmap:

Hey, we're not doing too bad out here!
Saw a Fred in the park today with a folded newspaper in his jersey pocket.  Took me a while to even figure out what was happening.  Was he going to finish his ride and sit back on a bench?  Was he delivering it?  Did it fall in...?  I'm still wondering.
For the descent section of the loop I assume.  Popped it into the jersey each and every lap.
