I've developed a weird almost hobby of screen shotting weird bicycle listings that I come across on fb market place/ ebay. But this one is next level.
I tried to get all the craziness in one shot, but there was just too much. This $10,000 triathlon FRAMESET has the option to pick combo brakes. As in one disc, one rim. I can't quite figure out why they would do this at all, let alone pick the rear to be the disc. In terms of stopping good, it doesn't make sense but I guess aerodynamics is the problem here?

If there is any indication of the current global bike shortage, I just sold my kid's bike that she outgrew for way over retail cost. Listed late on Sunday night and when I woke up on Monday it was already sold for nearly $500.

That is a thing of majesty! The owner has color coordinated saddle bag, bartape and valve caps. Valves line up with tire labels, quick releases are parallel to the ground and each other - gentlemen and ladies, this bike is proper. The rider probably has a janky back but s/he would fit right in on any #looksharp ride.

This is begging for yellow or blue (or both!) anodized cxp33 rims and similar blue with yellow stitching seller italia flite saddle to complete the lewk.

My issue with it is the visual distortion from the lens and camera position makes it look like there's a 700c rear combined with a 24" front.
I agree with Dave on the accessorizing. Though I'll one-up him and suggest yellow cages, some Blue ano' Salsa skewers, yellow STI housing and maybe Vittoria Corsa CX tires with blue/black tread.

Apartment living. Is there a teammate that has 2+ bikes stored in their living room (foyer, bedroom..) in a somewhat elegant way. I am trying to do some home design and I struggle to find a way to display them without making my wife feel like she lives in a bike shop.

I have one of the Delta Michelangelo two bike stands. It's an older version that's grey with red silicone covers. It works fine for two road bikes.
Looks like they have a nicer grey on grey now. I think I've also seen a black one floating round somewhere too. It might be worth it to shell out a little extra for the rugged e-bike compatible one. I've never had anything fall or slip, but it just feels a little flimsy.
My commuter and MTB are in my buildings bike room in the cellar.
Amazon seems to be full of DaHanger style pedal bracket and wheel tray knock offs. Some of them look a little more discrete too.

I'm friends with Juergen, the maker. that's been a huge PITA for him for a long time. The counterfeiters not only made knockoffs, but stole images from him as well (his wife, who appears in some of his images can be seen in the product pages of the knock-offs). And Amazon wouldn't do anything, other than suggest that if he did more with them, they might think about doing something about it. He's completely off Amazon as a result.DanSztanga said:

1. You shouldn't buy from Amazon. Ever. Amazon is home to counterfeiters, fraudsters, money-launderers and IP thieves. And people who make a successful product on Amazon have to worry that Amazon will design, source, produce, and sell a copycat version of that product and undercut them, destroying their business.
2. If you're wondering about whether or not to trust stuff on Amazon, Juergen made a video of him buying and mounting a counterfeit version of his rack. (My kids think it's funny.)

I agree. Amazon does seem to have less and less legitimate products on it. I first noticed it at the start of last year, but it must have been happening for quite a bit. It used to be a convenient way to source hard to find stuff, but not so much anymore. Seems like its just AliExpress but instead of waiting 3 months for your order to arrive, there are warehouses in the US. It's also unfortunate that legitimate and counterfeit products from different sellers get placed in the same bins at the warehouse. One time you can get the real thing, but then another you get a knock off...
I have no issue ordering a legitimate product, like from DaHanger, but I would like a more minimal pedal bracket that wasn't a gingerbread man or a sprocket.

I am just getting started on my 4 bikes rooftop project now. I will do the setting Jim had on the Honda: one basket with two bike racks on top of it and two more bike racks on the outside of the towers. What do you think the minimum space is to install a bike rack on the outside of the tower? Is 4 inches enough?jim_nelson said:mugwump said:

This is a concern. On the CRV I had 54" which was pushing it. I think by law you can't go out past your mirrors.
Right now my manufacturer cross bar is 42". Yakima has my preference but their bar is only 50" or 60". One seems tight the other way to big. Thule bar is 53", I think this is the one I'll end up going with.

I'm sure Thule and Yakima have details descriptions of the width of their mounts. If you're going with a fork mount, my guess is that 4" is not quite enough, as the fork mount will be as wide as the ends of the quick releases on your bikes. 4" is 100mm, which is the width of a road bike axle, and if you go from the outside of your quick releases, it's closer to 6".Remy Forgues said:

You could custom cut the longer cross bars to size. Start with 60" and end up with 55" or whatever you measure best.
Most cars are wider at the door handles than they are at the roof. In terms of legal limits, I'd guess that you'd want the bars no wider than the ends of the side-view mirrors. But at that width, hitting your head getting in and out can be a concern.
