Put this in the wrong dang thread:

I would like to nominate @RobertMullen for PR for this year's board. He is a millennial which means it's safe to assume that he knows how to work social media internet devices and he also is a teacher which means he's good at communicating with people.

Mullen for Multimedia and Municipal Meeting Management 2021!!!!!!

And also, thanks @RobertMullen, I accept. I'm hopeful I can be as organized and thorough as past Secretaries and very sure that I have the intuition, skills, and love of bikes and going fast to help the club grow and evolve through the future.
Also good to note that Nathaniel was the only one of us to post his nomination in the correct spot this year.

Thank you for the nomination! I joined Kissena in 2018 like some of the other people running for board positions this year. I felt welcomed by the team on that New Member Ride and knew almost instantly that I made a great choice joining Kissena. The club has a fantastic way of being approachable and down to earth while also being fierce between the tape. I think this is what drew me to Kissena and what has kept many of us around for so many years. Since then, Kissena has become a major part of my life and I welcome the opportunity to serve the club.

In the PR position, I'd like to do my best to make those great characteristics of Kissena visible to the public! Kevin and Eloy have done a fantastic job of showing the community what Kissena has to offer and I would love to continue that! We have so many great stories to tell and I'd love to use this position to celebrate current members and do my part to show why Kissena is a fantastic place to call home. I am particularly interested in using our platform to welcome people into our family. I would love to work with the board to make Kissena an inclusive and inviting space in a historically pretentious sport. We have a fantastic opportunity to show the city that Kissena is not just a tolerant cycling team. We are a team that sees value in diversity of race, gender and culture.

In my role as a public high school math teacher, my job is essentially explaining complicated things to a sometimes disinterested audience. I am tasked with drawing interest to the obscure. I just finished up a masters degree in Educational Technology where I've learned to use social media and digital tools to highlight effective instruction. I think I can apply these skills to the PR position to create innovative content and highlight what Kissena has to offer.

Thank you all for creating such an awesome community. I would love the opportunity to serve the club and help show what makes Kissena so great.
This is a reminder that nominations close this Thursday the 10th. Head over to the Nomination thread to nominate anyone you think would serve the club and the membership well!
Check your email. Current members should have received a ballot for the 2021 Board. Please fill it out by Thursday. Thanks!
Thanks to the 2020 board, and especially to the Erik, Rich and Kevin for their service to the club during this bizarre year. The 2021 board positions were uncontested, so the results should come as no surprise. Nevertheless, join me in welcoming the 2021 Kissena board and wishing them/us a tailwind as we pull the club through the end of the pandemic (I am sure there is a good analogy here that I just can't come up with now).

President: Matt Budofsky

Development: John Olsson

Membership: Rich Polk

Public Relations: Robert Mullen

Treasurer: Jim Nelson

Secretary: Nathaniel Picard Busky

Technology: Thomas Chen

Sponsorship Director: Eloy Anzola

Vice President: Patrick Grehan

Looking forward to working with this absolute unit of a board to make KCC the best club we possibly can!
Looking forward to working with this absolute unit of a board to make KCC the best club we possibly can!
Ditto! Heartfelt thanks to everyone on the board who did a great job containing the dumpster fire that has been the year 2020. We might not be where we are without you!
Congratulations guys! Always warms my heart to see motivated and talented folks step up to help grow the club.

Here is to a stellar 2021!

It is time to select a Board of Directors for 2022

I am hoping that YOU will consider running for the board for 2022. The most productive boards have had a combination of new board members as well as those who have experience on the board. In other words, we highly encourage members who have not served on the board to become involved. Nominating is officially open and will close at midnight on Monday, December 13th.

Post a nomination and accept a nomination in the Nominations and accepting nominations thread.  Every club member can nominate anybody who is up for the task (first make sure that the person you choose is OK with it). And yes, you can nominate yourself.

This time last year there hadn't been any organized races or events in months, the only rides were solo or virtual, and we didn't know when things would get better. Since then, we’ve had a much more “normal” Summer and Fall. The board has worked to navigate rebuilding the club prudently. While we didn't accomplish many of the things that we had hoped to, we were able to create a special edition (aka donut) jersey, have a long overdue memorial ride for Phil, host a race clinic, Design a water bottle and t-shirts for members, donate proceeds to a local trans cycling organization, restart recruitment and group rides, help transition the park races promotion from Charlie Issendorf to Tom Mains, all while keeping the club finically solvent.

There is plenty to do in 2021 as we work on building greater club cohesion and opportunities to train together. We also continue to work on negotiating the supply chain disruptions and providing valuable benefits to membership. The club is built on volunteers who pitch in to make the club awesome. It is a rewarding task that all members should consider.

Below are a list of current board members who have expressed and interest in running for the board again.

The following 2020 board members are running again:

Matt Budofsky (President)

Thomas Chen (Technology)

The following members said they’d consider running again, but are undecided about role to take which is often influenced by time demands and wanting to make room for other club members to take leadership roles

Rich Polk

Jim Nelson

John Olsson

Eloy Anzola

Patrick Grehan

The following  members are not running in 2021:

Robert Mullen (Public Relations)

Nathaniel Picard Busky (Secretary)

For those who are accepting these nominations, it is recommended that you write a small paragraph about what you can bring to the club.

Elections will be done online – you will receive a personal email with your voting link within a couple of days after the close of the nomination period.

For general information regarding the officer duties, the Club Bylaws and Board documents are accessible at the top right of the forum page which include descriptions of the responsibilities of each position.

If you have any questions about the responsibilities and what it’s like to serve on the board feel free to ask any of us.

Happy nominating!

The board election is now open. Look for an email with the subject: “Vote now: Kissena Cycling Club - 2022 Board”. Each member has a unique email (sorry, you can’t vote twice but you can vote for yourself). Three positions are being contested (more than one person running for a position): Veep, Tech and Treasurer. See the Nominations thread on the forum for more information about candidates. Good luck to all candidates. Voting closes Monday at midnight.
BUMP: Don't forget to vote! 2022 Board elections close tomorrow (Monday) at midnight
Results are in!

Starting with the contested positions, the 2022 board is as follows:

Technology: Stephen Aschkenes
Treasurer: Jim Nelson
Vice President: David Yang
President: Matt Budofsky
Membership: Michael Cumming
Development: Eloy Anzola
Public Relations: James Reeder
Sponsorship: Patrick Grehan
Secretary: Adam Yaffe

Thank you to all who ran for the board. We have five new board members.

But let's take a moment to thank the 2021 board. The club runs on volunteer energy and participating on the board takes more work than is apparent to most club members. While four board members will continue to serve in 2022 (Jim, Eloy, Matt and Patrick), make sure to thank Thomas Chen, John Olsson, Rich Polk, Robert Mullen, and Nathaniel Picard-Busky on your next group ride

Shout out to the 2021 board! Everyone always brought tons of ideas and energy to the table and the club is 100% better for the efforts we made!

Can't wait to work with the 2022 board and keep that progress going!

Cross posted from Nominations thread:

The election results are in!

Twenty six of the 56 members voted. The contested position of Development chair was won by newcomer, Greg Hoge. Congratulations Greg.

Don't forget to thank the outgoing board members for their contributions this past year (and for Eloy and Matt, many years). Being on the board is a labor of love and does not come with perks other than feeling good about having supported the club and its members. More work goes behind the scenes than most members are aware of.

The outgoing members are Matt Budofsky, Adam Yaffe, Eloy Anzola, James Reeder, and Michael Cumming. Thank you all

18 of 45 members voted. The contested positions of Secretary and Treasurer were won by Matt Budofsky and Mark Taylor, respectively.

A big thank you to all the outgoing board members. There is a lot that goes on in the background to support the club. This past year came with a lot of challenges including new sponsors, new banks for our club funds, and navigating an unknown future with our clothing providers.

Kissena Fam!

It's time to vote for the 2025 KCC board members!  You can find the ballot here.  Voting closes Friday, December 27th at 7pm EST.

Here's a quick description of each role and what it entails.

President - Lead the club and set objectives for the year.  You'll be the one responsible for evaluating what the club needs to grow and flourish for years to come.

Vice President - You're a jack-of-all-trades.  You want to dabble and help out where ever you're needed.  Whether that's leading a ride, making a social media post, or being the comic relief, you're the go to person.

Treasure - You like money.  Or you at least are good at keeping track of it and making sure we operate within our means.

Development Director - You don't need to be the fastest person on a bike for this, but you should enjoy training.  We're seeing this role as more of a hype-man/woman than a coach.

Membership Director - You love talking about Kissena and want to share the joy and excitement that the club brings to your life.

PR/Social Media - Social media is your jam and you enjoy building a brand.  Or you just know how to build following.

Sponsorship Director - You will liaise with our shop sponsor (Ride Brooklyn) and other potential sponsor and partnership opportunities.

Secretary - You are good at taking meeting notes and keeping everyone in the club informed with regular meeting minutes and newsletters.

Technology Director - You handle all our tech stuff.  Websites, forums, Slack, etc.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the current board members!
