Hello All,

I'm running for club President in 2014.

I've been Membership Director for a couple of years now.  About three years ago, when I'd just joined the club, I was on a group ride talking Eric's ear off… I had so many wild ideas about what the club "should" or "could" do that would make it even more awesomer for it's members - and he just turned to me and said, "So go ahead."

I was stunned.  "Go ahead." He repeated. "This club is what you make it."

I took those words to heart.  I took over Membership, moved the waivers and payments online, staked out our online (twitter, facebook, tumblr, youtube, flickr, etc) territory, got the kit-ordering process in ship-shape and shepherded the kit revamp from Ros & Greydon's drawing boards onto everyone's backs.

Along the way I managed to get Moser to race in the spring series, reconnect with some Kissenas from ages past (including Al Toefield’s granddaughter!) hooked up the custom bottles, personalized name-stickers, upgraded the forum, wrote the "how to ride & race your bike" manual, created the welcome package for new members, and generally did everything I could to slather as much awesomesauce onto our club, YOUR club, every chance I got.

I won't tell you it wasn't hard work, because it was.  It really, really was.  But it was also fun, and rewarding - thanks in large part to how appreciative people have been, and how deep the talent and personality pool is here.  I won't even start on how Kissena races, because the forum has a word limit, but competing on this team is just the best thing going on two wheels and it's because of how supportive, knowledgeable and sportsmanlike the people on this team are.

I'll also say (it's an election, we're supposed to brag a bit, right?) that the feedback from the local peloton has been stunning.  In the last three years we've gone from stalwart-if-strange members of the local scene to the "it" club that is (a little) worried about growing too fast, and who everyone is afraid of in the out-of-town races, at the track, and inside the CX tape.  

I am really proud to be a part of Kissena and that really means I'm proud to call you all teammates.

If you vote for me, I'd like to continue heaping on the awesomesauce; with a few very specific things in mind:

1) Your Board works hard, but I don't think everyone knows what the board works ON.  I'd like to summarize and share some of the issues the board is tackling, and help people understand what's involved in running a 150+ person club, and what we plan to do to keep it thriving.

2) Running a club is a lot of work, but it's work that every club has to do.  I've made some inroads with other large clubs (MGCC for example) but I'd like to formalize that and create a standing group of local racing clubs so we can help one another out with best practices (for instance, does every club really need a different waiver?). This way, the next time we have an issue like the sudden appearance of barrels in Prospect Park, we aren't scrambling to find a unified voice, or letting CRCA or TA speak for us.  I've talked to a lot of the leaders of local racing clubs and there is a real appetite for this.

3) In 2014 our club needs an IT director and that means a change to the charter.  I'll make sure that we convert one of our at-large positions to that role so that we can formalize this responsibility.

4) Lastly, because #Donuts if you vote for me, I will buy each member of the club a fresh, soft, delicious donut.  Actually, I'll buy you a donut each time you vote for me.
