Winter Computrainer Rides

1252 comments · 9491 views

I'm not going to make it to the 7:45 computrainer start tonight.  Anyone who is nearby is welcome to take my spot...no charge.  I do intend to get out into the Park from 8:15 to 9:30 as a substitute though.  Give a shout if you're headed out. neilxross@yahoo.com

For those of you who haven't paid for February yet, please bring cash to your session on Wednesday.

For everyone else, we have 4 open (monthly) spots at the 6pm session. If you've ever wanted to try your luck on the computrainer, here's your chance. You don't have to commit for the whole month, just show up with $20 for whichever session appeals to you. This will help you get into shape while helping us get even with Ride.

Let me know through the forum or PM if you're shy.

I won't be able to make it tonight, too many work related stuff to deal with. My 7:45 spot is open.

assuming the club has not exhausted its 20 free weekday computrainer hours, does anyone want to computrain...er (how does one make that a verb?) with me this Friday?  i wouldn't mind getting started right at 10 am when they open.  get at me here or rigby.b@gmail.com or (774) 219-4511.  i want to try out this whole power measurement thing.
My 745 slot is free this evening.  Have at it.
FWIW....Jeanine Bardo will be taking mine again.

I do!!!
I'm in, Vlad.
I'm out
Although unable to attend tonight's session, I represented whilst away by putting in 30 mins' hard effort on the hotel gym's indoor bike. After drinking four double scotches. Jury's out as to whether this has been a good idea.
I am out as well for Mark. Thank you for the Vlad for organizing these.
I second what Eric just wrote. Thank you Vlad!

@Vlad-I would sign up again for March. I won't be able to ride again til second or third week, but Im cool to commit for the month and see if Jeannnie or somene else will sub for me.

rick and i did the computrainer today.  equal parts challenge and monotony. okay, maybe more the former than the latter.  we'll likely do 10am next thursday too if anyone wants to join.  here's the obligatory screenshot of the numbers.  my first time using power.  watching those numbers is strangely addicting.

question: in the graphic below the course topography diagram, do the vertical green lines mean it will get easier once you hit them?  and the red that it will get harder once you hit them?  a green line begins a negative gradient and a red a positive?

it's hard to know when to put forth what amount of effort.  the little graphic moves so slow.

Yep. red = gradient increase; green = gradient decrease.
I'm out
Thank you Vlad for organizing this years rides!

Thanks for the thanks.

@vlad- thanks for kicking our asses this winter and organizing!

I'll be at Ride Brooklyn this morning at 10 doing an hour long computrainer session. If you care to join me, just swing on by. It's FREE as part of our sponsorship deal with them.

It's that time again…winter computrainer sessions at Ride Brooklyn are here. If you don't know what computrainers are, RB has a basic explanation here: http://ridebrooklynny.com/about/computrainer-classes-pg69.htm

Details:

-The cost for one cycle (four weekly sessions) is $80. You must sign up for the whole cycle. You must pay in advance to reserve your spot. More on how to pay below.

-We will start the first Wednesday in December (12/4) and continue on Wednesday nights from there. We will SKIP 12/25 and 1/1 and resume on 1/8. So, 1/8 will be the last session for this cycle, and a new cycle will start on 1/15.

-There will be two, back-to-back sessions available - one at 6PM and one at 7:30PM. You can do either, or both is you like (Vlad does it, you can too!)

-Sessions start at 6 and 7:30 sharp, so really you need to be there 20 minutes early, at least, to set up and warm up properly. In past years, we've not been very punctual. RB has asked that we try to be on time this year.

-We usually do these through February. Those who commit to this first cycle will get first chance to renew for the next ones.

-If you can't make a session, you are allowed to sell your spot - but that's between you and whoever your sub is. The club will not deal with transferring payments.

-You need to be on time.

This is a great way to break up the monotony of winter indoor training. It's also a great chance to get some coaching and advice, and if you want to, suffer through some simulated racing.

If you want to come out firing in the spring, this will help you get there!

To sign up for the 6PM go here:

To sign up for the 7:30 go here (yeah, I know the wufoo thing says 7, but it is 7:30):
