"... to cure exhaustion, they had on hand pills called Forced March—a mixture of coke and caffeine that they'd take hourly to just keep moving their legs through the punishing cold. Your heart might explode, but at least you won't collapse from exhaustion..."
Interesting, but thumbs down to the author for bad jokes and for twice referring to the "Arctic" when talking about Antarctica.

The USADA...they're such teases... I mean witch hunters!

Can we start a Professional Dopers thread?  I don't want to get my David Anthonys confused with my Lance Armstrongs.
Good idea

Oh wow, the truth is so great.

If "Schumi" (aka Ferrari) had told Lance to ride in Afghanistan, I'm sure he would have done it.
Wow.  The affidavits are amazing.

even micheal barry

Barry is the big surprise for me.  He was rarely more than C-team material at Postal.  I always figured as with his "inside the postal bus" story that he was always on the outside looking in.  I figured he was curious but not interested in joining the brotherhood of the needle.

I'm most of the way through the summary.  It's depressing how Zabriskie and Barry and Vande Velde seemed to fold so easily.  George and Levi otoh, were Ferrari clients.
So does this mean that the Swiss judgement against Landis will be reversed?
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

But wait, they get 6 months of off-season suspension and keep all their winnings and moneys?  Or is it backdated? Sounds pretty sweet!

And USAC is saying they haven't suspended anyone.  Gah, USADA screwing this up already?
@ Wump I agree I'd always thought that willingness to dope was the gate-key to riding on the Armstrong Tour train and that Barry was unwilling and therefore never at a high enough level to do it.  Very surprised to hear he was a stalwart EPO consumer.
I'm really starting to like Myerson

Inner ring has the whole document

David Zabriskie has a dry but apparent sense of humor. In his interview with USADA he described a funny and, at the same time, revealing anecdote of life on the U.S. Postal Service team bus. Zabriskie recounted being at the front of the bus singing to Johan Bruyneel about EPO use to the tune of Jimi Hendrix’s song Purple Haze. Johan laughed along as Zabriskie sang:

EPO all in my veins
Lately things just don’t seem the same
Actin’ funny, but I don’t know why
‘Scuse me while I pass this guy
This is a huge piece of history for cycling.  I fear that without a truth & reconciliation amnesty it will go down as the "Armstrong Festina" ie: a story about one crooked team.

The reality is the whole peloton (I generalize) was in on this game and there are still plenty of supect players out there doing a "What?  How?!?  I am SHOCKED, so very SHOCKED..."

All our favorites should be in the crosshairs (Voigt, Fabian, etc) and they are curiously silent.

To Myles point, "Who *is* the "unnamed Canadian mountain biker" that Barry shared a case of EPO with?

Are his initials RH?
This is better reading than that USADA thing.

Too bad many of the names are redacted.

The USADA document is written poorly. It uses over the top
language to vaguely describe the evidence they have, and come to
conclusions, but it doesn't actually present the evidence clearly.
They should have let the evidence speak for itself, since it's pretty strong.

Plus, they keep bragging that it's over 1000 pages long, but some of
the appendices that are being included in this count are the books
Lance wrote in their entirety! Just filler material that doesn't
strengthen the case.
This is the link to all the affidavits

How cute.  Lance Armstrong and Dave Anthony are on the same page on the internet.  I bet DA loves that!

Last first.  RH is possible, but I'm wondering if it was RG, as I he was a Trek-sponsored MTB'er, tried riding for USPS on the road, and a doper.  (roland green)

Yes, we should wonder about Jens, Fabian, etc.  With any rider currently on Leopard-Radio Shack, I wonder if they're waiting until Bruyneel and his cadre are sacked before speaking out.  As for the others, some of their statements are a bit hard to swallow--Levi was with Bruyneel from 2006-2011, teammates with Armstrong 2009-10, and has always been very much a "good soldier."

Well JP, you got your wish -partially. No words from Jens yet but since he's a good quote, Im sure the press will get to him soon. Im sort of curious to see if any heads roll over at the UCI. The Hincapie GF will certainly be interesting now...

I like this from INRNG, about Bruyneel possibly spilling his guts as well, if things start to collapse even further:

"Tyler Hamilton writes “whenever I watch the likeable gangsters on Sopranos I think of Johan” and this is amusing but like The Sopranos there’s a dark side and you wonder if Bruyneel is tempted to reveal where some of the bodies are buried when it comes to his time managing Contador or to give his side to why payments were made to the UCI’s anti-doping effort."

Tasty!

I think they've got some facts seriously wrong in the story.  Wives/girlfriends typically only show up to hand with the team on rest days at stage races, and I'm sure the videos were from then.  But the idea that they're involved is absolutely true.  The Zabriskie quote I can't find in the affadavit, mine has several pages missing.  Teh real gold is Hincapie leaning on Andreu over Betsy, undermining the good guy image.

news front the front:

seems that per JP &logic that peleton repleat w/dope. Q? or not really is still sqme w/more sophisticated designer drugs &techniques...i suspect yes. many parallels w/Agricultural &marketing technology.

i ride organically ie. walnut, tunafish, &chocolate milk(slowly) hope you do too!
