thanks for this report
The cool thing was I saw what appeared to be a deer family hanging out on the road.
I wonder what kind of time a Deer could post up Alpine?
Would they bonk before the top?
^lol - so nerdy^
@Jules --re: deer, I was wondering how long it would take to nab the buck and field dress it. Good, lean protein.
@ Norm: do you think we could cut it up in such a way that the meat all fit in our jersey pockets?
@Jules: we should cease and desist on the venison topic... some bad karma might preempt our respective Alpine PRs. So we best pick-up the discussion over some elk burgers at Bare Burger on 7th (super delish burgers).
@ Norm: I know "The Bear" well; it was the site of my post-first-cross-ever recovery meal.

The major problem with that place as I can see it is that one cannot drink BOTH excellent beer AND milkshake... I need a second "for milkshakes only" stomach.

Beer Float is your solution. Start with Guinness, and vanilla ice cream, maybe a little chocolate syrup.
Beer Float!
Sheer Genius...
Half a pint of Magic Hat and half a pint of Ben and Jerry's vanilla was a good seller at my college's pub (..VT was 45 min away)

WTFF? She drove off the highway, down through the park vehicles only paths, and into the river.... Wonder how old "elderly" is. Do any states have driver's license re-testing after 70? Haven't the last few 9W cyclist run-overs been by seniors? Sheesh.
Josh?

Really dude . . . you know we already have like three threads for this topic, right?
As of this morning (saturday 1/21/12), the GWB is closed due to weather.

got it from the Port Authority auto-generated alerts service. http://paalerts.com

Will post when I get a message as to the opening.
The bridge is now open.
Hey Guys.

Reviving this thread.

When you get out to prospect, central park, hudson river bike bath etc, let us know the conditions.

One good piece of news is that the barrels have been removed in prospect to make way for the plows.

I've also been told they won't be returned to the roadway, but that is unofficial.
Hudson River bike path is clear as far north as 125 st. However, you have to avoid the causeway north of the boat basin.
I find the auto-centric default language of the PA alerts pretty funny .

"The previous alert for the GWB Sidewalk due to adverse weather is no longer in effect. There may be residual delays."

Residual delays ? Really ? I am picturing a large mass of pedestrians and cyclists patiently waiting on the corkscrew ramp up to the GWB path for entry.
GWB south side path is supposed to be closed this week monday-friday.

from the alert:
FOR THE WEEK STARTING 5/7/2012, THE NORTH SIDE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY WILL BE OPEN MONDAY THRU FRIDAY AND, CLOSES OPERATIONALLY AT NIGHT FROM 0000 TO 0600. IT WILL BE CLOSED 24 X 7 ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. THE SOUTH SIDE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY THRU FRIDAY 24 X 7. IT WILL REOPEN ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AND, CLOSES OPERATIONALLY AT NIGHT FROM 0000 TO 0600.
When I read those gwb alerts, I read it in a yelling voice.
8/11/12 Ironman US Championship Event on GWB North sidewalk. South sidewalk will be open during normal hours of operation.

...they are racing over the North side...with the stairs ?
Just got an Alert.  The GWB Sidewalk is closed.
haven't had an update on this since before the storm.  Seems like the south side will be closed weekdays and opened weekends until further notice.

^that honks - weekday mornings are my time to ride.

*whine* first world problems

Snow race tomorrow in CP for those able to get there...

Looked like they were patching potholes in PP today
FWIW, Seven Lakes Drive, the main road through Harriman, is perfect.  I've never seen it so good in all my years riding it.
Poorly at that and a few wheel breakers tire flatters were missed.
