Spending some time here in Hawaii with tire engineers from Bridgestone. Fascinating conversation about how winter/snow tires for cars work. Makes me think maybe throwing mud tires on in snow conditions is NOT the way to go. Must ponder more.

At supercross, I lost one of the spikes on my MTB shoes. Got new spikes, but as feared, the thread in the shoe is completely gone.

Other than buying new shoes, any ideas on how to fix?

Epoxy FTW. I'm a big fan of Loctite stuff:

Thanks for the suggestions. Will give it a shot with the epoxy first. How should go about it? Planning on epoxy in the hole and then simply before cured, the spike in there. Hoping it holds.

I'd suggest plumbers tape (aka teflon tape) if there's any thread at all, before epoxy.

Obviously, easy enough to give a shot with teflon tape, so I'll try. But there appears to be no thread at all, ie, the new stud doesn't bite into anything at all.

(possibly, the whole thing came off with the spike, and what's left is an empty rubber hole)

How about re-tap the threads? It's possible that Redbeard has a tap and die set that'll do the job. I can tell you when I was in SF a couple of months ago my derailleur hanger threads were stripped and a bike shop was able to re-tap the threads. (I should give a shout out to Huckleberry Bikes: http://www.huckleberrybicycles.com)

Speaking of stages power from the sponsor thread...I noticed during the last few indoor rides that our 15+ year old microwave scrambled the signal causing the ant+ dongle to lose connection or give false power numbers in short bursts. So sometimes it'll cut out power and others I'll be doing 2400watt sprints. Funny stuff. Otherwise it is more stable since the firmware updates as well as manually entering in the ID into the Garmin instead of auto pairing it.

I bet if you go to JP's training talk, he'll tell you not to microwave your hot pockets *during* the training rides. Wait until after the interval is over to heat up the hot pocket.

Also remember to give it time to cool down after microwaving so that you don't burn the roof of your mouth on the hot cheese. (voice of experience).

If you are indoors and so desire, use bluetooth from your phone rather than ANT and the microwave won't impact the signal.
