how cheap will the stages units get (+ discount) now? Maybe its time to power-meter tf out of all of the bikes

I am considering getting a power meter. Is there a drastic difference between single and double arm? I know the accuracy will be better with the double, but if it’s minimal I rather not break the bank on this. Thanks

I have single sided ones on my bikes and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything tbh. I would probably go single sided again if I needed to buy a new one. I think having a power meter that measures consistently throughout your training is more important than having super specific measurements!

I own both a stages (one sided) and a quarq (dual sided, well, actually measures at the spider, so both legs)

The Quarq is undoubtedly better and more accurate.

But the stages works just fine, that is, workouts and fitness will end out being exactly the same regardless. The stages is on my road bike, so most miles on that.

Worth note, Gage Hetch rode with a one sided stages when he won cx nationals.

Thanks @eloy! I spent a huge amount of money on cycling last year. I guess you can say I did this to fulfill my mid aged crisis 🤪. I’m trying to think a little more before spending money this year... because I’m older and wiser of course.

yeah! This is what I meant by consistency. If you do an ftp test on a single sided power meter, do your training on a single sided power meter, and do your racing on a single sided power meter, you should in theory have the same training as if you did them all on the double (even if it reads low/high or whatever). 

That said, my garmin vectors were dormant for much of the cross season and now it seems like every time I ride my road bike, I get one or two insane power spikes (2900+ watts) which kinda skews my whole dataset/ normalized power. So I will add, probably don't get garmin vectors. 

I also have a second hand quarq on my cx bike with alloy arms ($300 i think?) and I haven't had any issues!

After riding last weekend and seeing some considerate gear choices from teammates, I've decided that this is the year to embrace fenders. Any recommendations for good coverage, clip on and space for 28mm tyres?

random question: l rebuilt my pedals about a month or so ago and replaced my cleats and all was good. Now, my cleats are starting to make squeeking noises as I pedal. I cleaned the pedal bodies, cleaned the cleats, made sure all parts of the pedal are tightened to specified torque settings and can't figure out what to do next. Any suggestions?

I'm using Look Keo Blades and the 4.5 degree of float (gray) cleat.

There is a (possibly) a small black oval on the bottom of your cleat - try popping this out.

Make sure you wrap electrical tape around whatever part of the frame the fenders mount to.

give tri-flow a try too. not sure how good it is for the enviroment, but tri-flow is the best product ever made for bikes.
