The error I was getting was java, its a loooong story but there is an apple java update. it will not be recognized by going to the system profiler - you can google 'mac java error' and there are a ton of posts about this issue on may apps. I had a 20 email reply going with saris and I finally solved it myself, works like a charm.

I was/am using 10.6.8, if you're using a different a different version I make no guarantees. this was over a & 20 emails with saris mac support - I sent their guy (eric) the link
@ Marc/jfogden
I had the very same problem with Power Agent. Here's my workaround:

I'm running the newer/latest OS X Lion 10.7.3 and tried the Java update fix. No dice.

Get Training Peaks Device Agent:
http://www.trainingpeaks.com/linker.aspx?linkto=http://media.trainingpeaks.com/deviceagent/TrainingPeaksDeviceAgent_3.0.74.dmg

It will recognize you device (Select CycleOps from list). Save data to "disk", which it saves it into your user/library/ folder. BUT! under OS X Lion this is an invisible folder. So you just then need to download Onyx disk utility. http://www.titanium.free.fr/download.php?sid=bad34f8a79614b64186871ff4f8d84ac (V2.4.5)
Skip the verify stuff at startup. Go to "Parameters" > "Finder" tab > misc. options. and check "show hidden files and folders".

You will now be able to navigate to the directory yourusername/library/ import the files into Golden Cheetah and PowerAgent. You'll see folders you shouldn't be able to see in your OS, which is disconcerting, but the price you pay... When Cyclops gets their shit together you can just switch it back in Onyx.

Someone might have a better way, this was the only free way I could figure out.

Thanks for all the props in the other thread! Flu is putting the brakes on my BK prep, any advice re recovery vs slogging 80 miles Saturday? (haven't ridden over 40 in two weeks now).
@John sorry to hear about the flu; great timing though, all thing considered. I have a hard ride this Saturday and will be happy to share it with anyone who wants to join. We can take turns giving one guy a 1 minute head start and then chasing him down. Would be a great per-bkill team exercise.
Check out image number 15. A very nice trick to keep you bar alignment under watch...

I know some folks would like to have their garmin out a little further on their bars. Above Category has made a specific mount for it.

SRM envy? haha.
Out of interest, is there any reason anyone uses power agent vs golden cheetah which is free?

I used wko+ for a year and recently moved to a mac and can't be assed with the whole parallels thing so I've been using golden cheetah for the last 6 months or so. Its pretty good, there are some things its missing that exist in wko but its free. They also let you download the release candidates which are quite far ahead of the stable release builds.

@mugwump I've been eyeing those up for a bit but it won't work with my zipp bars unfortunately.
@Ashley. I use wko+ on W7 through Parallels on a mac and it works fast and without a problem so it's not as big a deal as you might think. To speed up the process I keep a parallels VM running all the time.
Here's another mount

http://www.amazon.com/31-8-Bicycle-Handlebar-Control-Center/dp/B002XXJIUU

I do as Ian does with WKO+. Works without a hitch. I have almost seven years of data and understand the interface and would need a really good reason to change.

PowerAgent is good if you're also interested in simultaneously uploading into Training Peaks, Training Camp, Map My Ride, and a few other services.
Hey Mac users, got this message from Saris regarding my interface problems. It worked for me, and may work for you too. FYI, even though my Mac OS is 10.5, I didn't have to update to the provided Java links for the rest of the instructions to work.

1. Delete poweragent from your application folder, and any shortcuts you may have created for it

2. Go to the finder by clicking on the desktop

a. Select Go>Go to Folder and type in (~/Library/Application Support)

b. cid:image002.jpg@01CCDAAB.CA995150

3. Locate the folder titled poweragent and delete it

4. Empty the trash on your computer

5. Update your Java

a. If on OSX 10.7 use: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421

b. If on OSX 10.6 use: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1360

6. Restart the computer

7. Then reinstall this version http://files.saris.com/software/components/CycleOps_PowerAgent_7.5.3.16_Mac.dmg

8. Connect the USB cradle directly to the computer and attach the CPU ensuring it’s on completely (see attached) and says host

9. Open poweragent and go to File>download data.
It is exactly this kind of stuff from Saris that screams "Amateur-Hour"
(But extra points for digging out the complete (nine step) instructions)
OMG OMG OMG!!!!!

OMG OMG OMG, half the price of the Rapha ones and all the same functionality. I'll give you marketing copy for $10, and you're still saving $7.

Do your feet stink? Are you afraid scorpions and vipers are curling up in the toes of your cycling shoes when you're not wearing them? Have you ever wanted have your shoes to fit a wooden mold rather than your oddly shaped feet. Then you need a shoetree. Use this to prevent your shoes from stinking like your feet, conforming to the weird corns/bunions/and protrusions of your freakishly distorted feet. The home depot shoe tree will save you from your shoe based ophidiophobia as well.
Uh, Dan, these say "Rapha". Do you know how much that's worth? It's difficult to name a price. It's like trying to pick out your favorite child. Impossible.
lol
Jeff, Dan, and other Kissena Raphistas...

Jeremy gave me his card at the schindig last week. On it, it claims if you apply the code JPOWSRFCX when shopping through the Rapha site, you get 20% off. You're still paying more, but it is a pretty cool card.
AWESOME! Thanks, JP!

But they're aromatic cedar. What are those Home Depot ones made out of? Pine? Cork? Balsa wood? I don't think I can subject my stinky shoes to that.
aromatic . . . so hot right now
Code doesn't seem to be working.... :-(

I like how Owens was trying to use the code to buy Rapha products within minutes of JPs post
No, seconds.....
@ Owens. I wouldn't kick Rapha booty out of bed, but Snobster is hitting his stride here:

Home Depot shoe trees rocking the "Aromatic Cedar" as well, if Rapha was really rocking it, they would make it in an Aerodynamic Cedar, so you could use them to keep your shoes dry in a wind tunnel.
modern walkie-talkies. Aka two-way radios. I'm currently signed up to do Bike New York with Oscar and I'd like to experiment with two-way radios because I'd love to be able to talk with him while he's sitting in the seat behind me. Four year olds are not the loudest talkers and he likes chatting so I want to have a way that we can talk while riding.

so, first, any recommendations for brands/models to try. Has anyone tried themout with their kids? Any seem more kid-friendly than others?

Second, anyone have something like this I can borrow to test out?

I do. You'll have to spring for batteries though. I've never successfully used them, and I'm pretty sure they are not exactly "kid friendly" but who knows. Oscar's got rhythm.
I had my second fit with Chad Butts yesterday at Endurancewerx, I'd highly recommend Chad to anyone who needs to have a fit done. In all it took about 2 hours to have me dialed in. I used to work with Chad as my coach, so he was an easy selection for me to go back to. We started out checking my flexibility, once he had a gauge as to what my limitations were, we moved onto spending time looking at my pedal and cleat position. During the whole process from cleats, to bars to stem height, saddle position, he was taking the time to explain why each and every change was important and where I would see improvements in my comfort and power output as a result. We compared my saddle to two others, and how he could tell the saddle I was riding wasn't comfortable for me (which I never could find comfortable).

When we were finished, he took about 20 minutes to talk with me about my goal to lose 15-20 lbs and how best I can acheive, all while Mark Purdy gave me a complimentary quick tune up. Last night Chad sent me a link to the videos of my before and after and a pdf report of my fit, the fit also includes a follow up in 6 months to make any adjustments as I gain flexibility and lose weight.

I can't recommend Chad enough, and for that matter Mark Purdy as well, as he has been the only mechanic to work on my bikes.
Chad did my fit as well this year. Very happy with it.
@ Jules/Mike - can you share contact info for Chad? After lotsa training miles logged, and 3-4 races this season, I've concluded my positioning on the bike sucks. Just a sense, but I feel like I'm not nearly stretched out enough....and saddle too low....and seat too far forward....or something!

Haven't ever had a real fit (I don't count what the dude at Brickwell did for me). Enough is enough. It's (past) time....

Thanks!
