Posted By: mugwumpAs we're getting into stage race season where number plates are very common, figure now is a good time to share the way to ghetto a number plate holder. Sorry I didn't post in time for our Killington guys.
Go to a hardware store and pick up a metal pipe clamp. I think mine was 1.5 or 2 inches in length for a 3/4 pipe. Then you get a small wing nut and fitting short bolt to go through the clamp hole. If you can find the nut and bolt in stainless, it will last longer.
You flatten the clamp straight. then you twist one end perpendicular so the number plate will be parallel with the frame. You might have to bore out the other hole so it fits your brake bolt. And you might need to do the same for the number plate side. Bend the rest of the piece to fit.
