On Saturday, April 6, Al Barouh and I will be throwing the first ever Ronde van Millbrook, a 60+ mile race over hill, dale and dirt around my family's house in Millbrook, NY. This will be the ultimate roubaix-style prep race for Battenkill, which is a week later.
More details to come, but here's the skinny:
- It's a KCC-only affair . . . kind of like club champs, but with powers of x more camaraderie, hijinks.
- It's a full-service affair . . . there will a BBQ after the race.
- It's a family affair . . . bring your brood for a day in the country.
- There is both an individual race (for 1st, 2nd and 3rd) and some manner of team race. The organizers will divide the peloton into sub-teams. Everyone's placing contributes towards their team's performance.
- It will kick off somewhere around 11am.
- My house is 8 miles from a metro-north station (Wassaic) and 86 miles by car from the upper west side.
- There will be podium girls. They will be fine as hell.
I'll keep you posted as I fill in the blanks, but mark this day on your calendar and guard it assiduously from bosses, injuries and non-compliant family members.
Can't wait.
-William
