speaking of pointless breakaways - roy was just in one in the last stage of the tour de suisse that actually STUCK and then he ran out of gas and gave up like 50m from the finish. oops.

What happened to Martin's bike?
Yeah, its weird how some guys can TT and climb and others can't. The Schlecks suck. Rolland was awful. But then guys like Wiggins, Cadel, TJV - they can all climb and TT. And Armstrong was the best at both in his day! Leipheimer is another example.
I might think that the latter group is made up of guys with more "all-rounder" type bodies whereas the former are just pure skinny climbers who maybe just don't have that much power. But Contador is a great TTist as well, and he fits the profile of the former group. And Levi is not exactly a hulk.
My guess is that its partly body aerodynamics and partly mental. Some guys can just suffer more.

I've got some scoop from the locals here in Girona regarding a certain cyclist who trains here and just squashed the Rocacorba record two weeks ago (Rocacorba is the Alpe d'Huez of Girona). I did this climb today at something over 40mins --which was 13 minutes off the freshly minted record.
