Join the Kissena League for the Velogames fantasy Tour de France game.
Velogames has a popular and long running fantasy game that is free to use and is well run. Note that they don’t call it a Tour de France game because they were threatened by the ASO a few years back when ASO were introducing their own game. Hence, George, the guy who runs the site has lots of different competitions (named Spain, Italy, Suisse, etc.) but refers to the TdF game simply as Velogame 2024.
There are two different game options to choose from. The first is the classic (Velogame 2024) in which you pick 9 riders that fit into four different categories: All-Rounders, Climbers, Sprinters, and Unclassed riders. You want to pick the mix of riders that that cost you 100 points or less that will get you the highest number of total points by the end of the Tour (from stage placings and jerseys, etc.). You quickly realize that you can’t fill your team with marquee names given the 100 point cap so the trick is to find good 4 and 6 point long shots. The Ow Do Cycling YouTube Channel has good tips on finding some of those long shots (although he missed Derek Gee at the Dauphine!)
The second game is called Stage Hunter Fantasy Sixes. While the classic game is a set it and forget it game, the Stage Hunter game involves having a team of six riders for each stage of the tour where you can change up to 3 riders between each stage. This one is more involved as you need to make changes almost every stage. Once again you have a cap of 100 points.
I plan on fielding in teams in both competitions. I know that Mark, Eloy, Jim, Jeff and others have competed in the TdF league of Velogames before. (BTW, you can use the Kissena jersey for your team!). Join us, it will be fun!

My whole strategy revolves around Pogacar running out of luck and not finishing the tour - I figured it would be a good high risk high reward move: I’ll either finish dead last or do pretty well with both Roglic and Evenepoel as my gc guys

I am ranked1272 out of 29808. That feels pretty good. It ended up being a good call to pick top 3 from UAE. That balanced out losing Mads as my sprinter.
