I'm in for the 4 and the 3/4 race. Four hours left to reg ... anyone else?
Case in point... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1kMmgC9EvQ
Looks really fun!!!!  Kayt, looking forward to racing with you before you depart…boo :-(
I'll probably just drive over since that seems easier.

If you drive, bring a trainer and get in a good warm-up. For real. #CritClinicTipsinaMinute
If anyone can please offer a ride from Brooklyn. I'll signup and race the Cat 4. Else I'll be in Prospect Park.
They extended registration 24 hrs till tonight at 5.
@eloy I can provide a ride to Orchard. Gotta boogie after the race though. $15 suggested donation (got a Zipcar).
@Jeffrey White K sweet, thanks! please let me know where/when to meet to you.
Considering doing the 5 and 4/5.  Just a bit worried as I need to get back to my apartment by 11 to get a wedding on time.  Anyone heading down the FDR or riding back after the 4/5 race?
Reg has been extended yet again. It now closes at 1 PM  mañana

Do the race, skip the ceremony, and show up fresh and dapper to the reception/party.

Extended AGAIN until 2:15pm. Not sure what to make of this. They've already got 500+ entry fees, I'd be surprised if they weren't at least breaking even at this point.
Results, bros?

That 9&10 y/o sprint was the shizznite!
How about that time Vlad was shoulder to shoulder with a living legend?

Just add it to the pile

Vlad, what did you think of Verge clothes? Feel free to respond over in the appropriate thread. No pun intended.
I love the guy taking a selfie in the background.

Yes Vlad....the collection grows

Also, hoping to read more reports from this day!
Orchard beach crit. Let's see:
  •  @Kayt Mathers, @Jeffrey White, his girlfriend Jill, and myself head out to the Bronx
  • @JulieJones is there too
  • We expect summer beach weather, instead get foggy wintery nyc cold mist
  • It actually gets colder as day progresses
  • thank god for cyclocross packing skills and long sleeve skinsuits
  • Kayt races two races, looks amazing on both, including 6th in the Cat 4
  • Jeff and I line up for the cat 4 men
  • I do it all perfect, front row start, perfect clip in, sprint out of the line, Jeffrey takes the first corner leading the field, hot hole shot style
  • The first 10-15 minutes are a rude awakening for me, and remind me clearly:
  • This is my 1st crit in 6 years, holy crap: Corner!
  • Readjust my dreams of attacks and riding the front, to lets get this shit right, corner by corner
  • starts with hesitant braking, got to sprint out of corners, shit is hard
  • dude, get better at it
  • ends at not touching brakes at all, passing people in the corners
  • Small steps.
  • Jeffrey is super active at the front most of the race
  • Kayt cheers from the sidelines. so. much. awesome.
  • Speed is high, awesome to go 48-50 Km/H -- f*cking love it when we go hard and fast
  • there's a crash for no reason at all, 4 guys go down, about 10 minutes to go
  • getting back on terms "after the crash chaos" is hard fun
  • 5 min to go, stakes are high, so is the speed
  • 3 to go, 2 to go, bell, so much speed, but let's go faster, more speed, sweeeeet!
  • Awesome to race with Keith Garrison, Greg Addo, David Hall, Andrew Reimann -- if you race fours, know who these guys are, help them WIN.
  • hotness
  • recovery involves all the chocolate milk in the bronx
  • CRCA provides free pizza
  • SPEED AND FREE PIZZA in a foggy New York beach!! Some dreams can come true.
  • I want more speed, and more free pizza, with my friends, forever.

Nice Eloy...crits rule. Come to the dark side. Wilmington DE this coming Saturday! Figure 8 course, elevation changes.
Registered in the 4/5 field
Anyone who is remotely interested in local racing should do this race at Orchard Beach.  Not only is it a blast to race, but it's also an excellent spectating course since it is essentially a very large, flat velodrome!

I'm in
Definitely also in. Considering doing the 5 & the 4/5 right after, unless anyone advises against that?
Definitely do both Riley, the more races the better and this is a safe course.
The first "corner" after the start/finish straight tapers and creates a funnel effect and the last "corner" is slightly off camber.

That's it, those are the two minor hot spots.  Otherwise the hardest part is hiding from the wind on the two long open straightaways.

I am super bummed to have a work trip that weekend.
What David said. Also, pre-ride the off camber, it's fairly easy to plant a pedal when you're going flat out. Somewhat depends on your crank length/BB height/pedals. Lastly, if you are engaging in the sprint finish then you will finish in the position you were at on the back straight, meaning you need to be at the front half way down the back straight to have any chance of getting on the podium.
